Cannot paint wall in one go - problem?

I'm repainting a bedroom but can't move the existing furniture out. One wall currently has the bed and wardrobe against it and they take up the entire wall. To be able to paint the whole wall in one go, I'd need to move them both out a few feet (further for the wardrobe so I could fit a small ladder behind to get to the top of the walls). The problem is that the room set out is a bit strange and I cannot easily move both at the same time.

I work full-time and weekends are busy, so I only have a few hours here and there. I'm considering moving the bed so I can then easily paint half of the wall. Realistically, it would be over two evenings - one for each coat. It is then likely to be a few days before I can move the bed back, then move the wardrobe out to get to that half of the wall. Then it would be at least another two days to get that half painted (plus additional time once all the walls are pai ted to get the skirting boards done).

It's being painted an almost white, going over a neutral creamy colour, so there should hopefully not be huge variations. Would it be a bad idea to paint the wall in stages? Would it be really obvious with a line showing the different bits? It would be the same tin of paint, so no variations there. I can't see another way of doing it, but am hesitant if it is going to look strange.

I’ve done it and it didn’t show. However you can’t leave a straight line or it will show. It needs to be a messy join.

So some of your wall will still show the old colour just now until you get round to finishing the job as you can’t have a straight line around the existing furniture.

Can you/whoever sleep somewhere else in the house, move the furniture to the middle, and do it that way?

Sleeping elsewhere isn't a problem, but there is simply not the space to manoeuvre to move both the bed and wardrobe to the middle of the room at the same time (and keep your feet/be able to get past them to access the wall). Elieza, glad to hear it didn't show - I don't think a messy join will be a problem!

Can you tip the bed on its side?

No, the frame is a bit weird and we think it's too heavy for that.

Forgot to mention, I basically had a lot of hardly any paint in the brush type strokes at the join so the paint kinda tapered off

As it was so thin on the wall I think that’s why it blended. And I didn’t do a straight up vertical join it was zig zaggy but not in a uniform way.

You could perhaps use a long handled roller (or regular roller jammed securely into a broom handle) if you can pull the furniture out by a foot it or so.

I've done it, it was fine
