Has anyone used rubber flooring in their kitchen?

Just that really. I've been sent some lovely swatches and am really tempted but have heard from a friend's friend that it can scuff easily. Anyone here used it?

My parents put rubber flooring in a bathroom once. It was awful- never looked clean. Didn’t scuff as I recall but just looked permanently grubby

I used grey rubber flooring for our kitchen. Modern, white kitchen units and grey Silestone worktop. It looked spectacular and was comfortable on foot, softer and warmer than tiles, more waterproof than wood flooring. But it was Dalsouple, a very good make. I'm not sure if they sell retail any more - ours was via a builder - but I can highly recommend it. I don't know if cheaper rubber flooring would work.

After posting, I looked up Dalsouple to see what they offer now. They've come out with a less expensive range, one of which is very similar to the studded floor we had, and comes in a range of colours. dalhaus.co.uk/DalWerk+Classic+textured+rubber+tiles+for+contract+installations

@Rachael007 thanks for your feedback. Did it scuff, or show up dirt/ hair easily? Those are the complaints I've heard.

We did it in our first house in London nearly 20 yrs ago. Was a rather out there choice at the time, especially in purple!

I don’t remember the make (French made, I vaguely recall) and they needed some liquid sealant on top. Never scuffed or scratched and were super hard wearing yet oddly soft to the touch. I’d like to think they are still in place today and not ripped up for some dull LVT.

We have it in our bathroom and adore it.

@cardboardbox24 Our floor was mid-grey and would have shown the dirt, but it didn't get dirty. It was easy to look after. Periodically, we cleaned it with its special cleaner. It didn't scuff particularly. We loved it. It might not suit a period house, though.

Dalsouple is a French make, so may be what @jaundicedoutlook had as well.

Rachael007 · 23/02/2023 01:13

Oh, yes, it had a liquid sealant as well as its cleaner, so @jaundicedoutlook almost certainly had Dalsouple. Regular cleaning was just with a damp e-cloth mop.

I should mention, we don't wear shoes indoors. I can't say if it would scuff with shoes like heels. I can't see why. It was, as they say, 'tough as old boots'. But I don't have the experience of shoe impact.
