Recovering an arm chair?

How easy/hard is it?

i have a lovely accent chair that’s only a year old but it needs to come out of the room it’s in( and matches). So I either try and sell it or make it work in another room.

I’ve seen chair covers, stretchy ones but am not convinced so was thinking some lovely velvet fabric and a staple gun? It’s quite angular if that makes any difference?

Do I need to take apart or can I just fold and tuck and staple?

will I regret this?

Thanks

It is not just a case of a staple gun.
You will need to "make" two arm covers with a sewing machine and leaving margins that can be stapled. I am not an expert upholsterer but I could make a slip cover for this chair.
I would:
1-Sell
2-Get professional reupholster
3-Slip cover
4-Self reupholster
But I don't know what your skills are.

An old bf used to be an upholsterer, it's a pretty skilled job, I used to go to his workshop as it was fascinating to watch.
Don't want to put you off trying to do it yourself.
I'd watch a few YouTube videos first but the pp is right you'd need sewing skills and a sewing machine.
An upholsterer would also replace all the padding.
I certainly wouldn't go for the stretchy covers, my dsis tried those, they never looked right, unless no-one is going to sit in the chair.
