Can anyone recommend a waterproof paint for bathroom ceiling? One that is durable and resistant to peeling / cracking / blistering? There are a few online such Zinsser self-priming paint. Anyone got some experience with a good, durable one? Thanks .

By waterproof do you mean something suitable for high humidity environment, maybe an occaisional water splash, or something fully waterproof, like in a wetroom?

Does your current paintwork show any peeling / cracking / blistering? Maybe it's been applied over a poorly prepared surface?

I've used both Dulux bathrom paint (lasted for at least 10 years) and Zinsser Perma White Self-Priming Interior (3 years ago), no issues with any so far (touch wood).

Hi @NoIdeasForWittyNickname thanks for your reply. Yes it’s just above the bath where the paint is peeling off. Was painted 20 years ago and a year ago my friend painted the area just over the bath, scraped the original paint of first, and then painted but it’s all peeling off again, just above the bath. I believe he used a “waterproof paint” but I don’t know which one. I may try the Zinsser then as that looks good.

I used Zinsser in my small bathroom where the ceiling paint was peeling when I moved in.

That was five years ago and no sign of any repeat peeling yet....

Thanks @SprungIsSpringing . Zinsser it is then.

OP, what's under that peeling paint? Maybe there was a (back then) new plaster that wasn't primed (mist coated), so the paint has never stood a chance to adhere properly in the first place? Or maybe some other potentially problematic finish, like gloss?
