How to cover an ugly row of plugs

Goodness knows what my usually fab electrician was thinking but my minimalist kitchen wall has this (see pic) in open view. I can't really cover it with kettle and toaster - they're already in a different part of the kitchen.

What a mess! One isn't even straight! How do I cover it without adding clutter to my units!?!

Are they near the floor? What about a kitchen trolley some of them are lovely.

A planter?

BlackAlys · 30/10/2022 15:50

Sorry - they're on a counter too, so at waist level above a quartz worktop.

Put your microwave in front of them? Or a spice rack or bread bin.

I have a small set of shelves on my worktop, where I put the water glasses. What about something like that?

Soontobe60 · 30/10/2022 15:54

How about making a feature of them and changing them to something like copper or nickel covers?

A few chopping boards
Plant(s)
Neon sign
Cake stand/dome
Coffee maker

Prop a mirror or piece of artwork in front. Use a Velcro command strip thing so it won’t slip but can be moved on and off the counter for cleaning. And using the sockets, I guess.

Thanks everyone -
Some great suggestions here.

I really wanted to put a rail on the wall above those plugs to hang a small garlic basket and some
Utensils but DH won't drill there because of the plugs.

I am 99% sure the wires will be running upwards from the counter to the sockets so no need for your DH to fear there are wires above. But you could ask the electrician to confirm?

Watching as I need a similar solution to cover some bad splashback tiling 😩

Those are particularly messy, but you can never have too many sockets in the kitchen!! I think you need to get him to straighten them all out, and maybe replace with brushed steel/copper/whatever to complement your kitchen. Maybe add a glass splash-back than can be fitted round the tidied up sockets?

I’d also put the switch and the fused spur together in a double socket box, and add two twin switched sockets next to it. Or if you really don’t need all the sockets, the switch and fused spur together and one twin socket next to it.

Nc after the outing thread 🙈

Changed mine (whole room) to gold, not everyone’s taste but I got USBs which are handy
