Branches over dining table

Excuse the thread title, wasnt sure what else to call it! But essentially those branches ive seen on insta, where you hang half a tree above your dining table, then hang various seasonal bits from it... Does anyone have one, and how did you do it? Is it an enormous pita?

I might be getting a bit carried away with plans for decorating for our Christmas party...

I thought about doing this but I am too old and knackered now to be bothered.

If I could be arsed I would find a suitable branch, clean it and dry it out. I think you can wash it in a mild bleach solution to kill any beasties. You can rub Vaseline into the branches to preserve it a bit.

Screw small hooks or eyes into your ceiling and suspend the branch using invisible thread or fishing line. Using rope would give a more rustic effect.

Then go crazy with fairy lights, fake greenery and all sorts of other shit.

For Christmas I have two poles which I painted and then added gilt wax to. I hang these above the table and then add suitable stuff for the Christmas theme we were doing. It brings down the ceiling height and creates a cosy festive feel .

I have one that I made, use it Christmas and Easter and dress up and down depending on how I feel. We hang ours from the lights above the kitchen table.

I have a chandelier type thing with five arms and a light at the end of each. I cut three big fir branches and shove them across, then some smaller bits of holly and balance them on/weave them in. I am aghast at bleaching/vaseline - does that poster do that to her tree too?

i don't understand the bare branch thing. Lots of green unbleached foliage looks much nicer.

What tree?

I preserve pumpkins, gourds and fruit used for decoration the same way.

Wash in a mild bleach solution to kill off potential fungus and bugs then rub in some Vaseline to preserve and slow down the decomposition process.

I wouldn’t want bugs or pieces of bark falling into my dinner.
