Help rearrange living room so TV isn't focal point

Okay hive minds - I'd love some suggestions please for rearranging our living room so that the TV isn't the focal point.
The TV and its cabinet has to stay where it is because of wiring which comes up through the floor.
The attached drawing isn't to scale.
It's a big room which faces onto a not very pretty street in a 1970s detached house.
There are 2 classic leather sofas, one is a 3 seater currently opposite the TV, a 2 seater and a matching recliner chair , all of which will stay.
The inherited antique bits will stay too.
We do need something to store the glassware but not necessarily the current sideboard and the small chest could go as it's a toy box with Lego and duplo, handy if small kids visit but our DC are grown up.
You don't see the TV as you come into the room, but all the chairs face it when you sit down.
Thanks in advance
🙂

Since the room is quite large could could you "divide" it into 2 separate spaces ie one half dedicated to TV watching and the other half for reading/socialising etc? You could use the sofa to demarcate the two halves: put it in the middle facing the TV zone and push a sideboard/console table up against its backside, which will then face the other zone, if that makes sense!

@DarkAndDusty Oh yes, I do like that, thanks.

The only issue is, it would be a bit of a faff when the DC and their partners come here and we're all sitting down to watch TV though, or when other visitors are here.

One option I’ve seen is to put a piece of artwork (large canvas) over the TV when not in use so the TV is still accessible (just lift the canvas) but not the focal point per se when not in use.

How high is the TV and can it be made higher?

I'm thinking move the 2 seater sofa in front of it.

Either get rid of the side board and replace with shelves or put shelves above it and put book and games on them, maybe add a small folding table so you have a TV side (if you have guests more the sofa round and pretend you are in a cinema) and a min library side,

BTW what is the sideboard full of?

What does the room get used for? Watching TV but what else? Because if you are regularly watching TV with visitors then maybe it's fine to have everything facing the TV.

On the other hand, I agree with the PP that having a sofa end on to the TV will help make the room work better as a socialising space when friends and family come round. Then maybe (depending on size and space) have the antique book stand or even the toy chest in the corner space between the sofas and the antique chair and reclining chair facing the 2 seater sofa. Then a coffee table in the middle of the rug.

Sounds like the wall that currently has the ugly sideboard and toy chest is in need of a bigger single storage solution that is cohesive and customisable. What's your budget and style? Do you want IKEA or Vitsœ or built in units?

The sideboard has glassware which comes out when we're entertaining. I could declutter some of it though.
Not keen on open shelves as the glasses would get dusty quickly.
The toy chest could go really, although I am sentimental about it as it's unusual and a gift from a deceased relative. I'd like to find something to replace the sideboard but definitely not IKEA.
Thanks for all the ideas (not sure how this thread has been revived as I originally posted ages ago).

We don't use the room much at all in the winter, it faces north and with the cost of heating, we turned off the radiators and lived in the big kitchen-diner the other side when just DH and I were home.

If grandkids come along, it'll be used more! 🤞

Move the sofas so that they face each other across the rug with one at right angles to the TV?
