What do you think of these blinds in my kitchen?

I have a lovely, new but very plain kitchen. Matt grey doors, marble effect worktops, cool oak effect flooring.
It really needs colour and I love this fabric. Will it look ok as blinds on both windows?

Grey is a tricky colour to style. I like your kitchen, but the grey doesn't look like a bluey-grey. Whereas the blue background of the blind is quite a muted, greyish blue. So they may clash. I'd get samples of the blind fabric to check. Also, compare the white in the blind with any white in your worktops, as a true white will make an off-white or cream look dirty. On the plus side, its a nice design and the pinks and oranges will likely chime with your lovely floors. Personally I'd keep looking because the pistachio green in the blind isn't really either a harmonising or contrasting colour for anything I can see in your kitchen. OTOH repetition is always helpful for bringing disparate ideas together, and you will be having two blinds, which is helpful. Bottom line, its a lovely kitchen and a nice blind and I'm only a stranger on the internet, so don't let me put you off if you are keen.

Totally agree with @Willdoitlater

OldTinHat · 30/09/2022 17:30

Hmmmmm. Tend to agree with PPs. If you want colour, why not a solid colour blind in fuschia pink or purple? Really make a statement!

theemmadilemma · 30/09/2022 17:44

Much bolder and brighter would look better imo.

Aquamarine1029 · 30/09/2022 17:47

I think those would clash. Personally I'd go for something very simple and bring bold color in using decor. Glass pieces, art, etc.

I have the same units as you. I have white wooden blinds but have some yellow accessories ( which I am getting rid of as a bit dated now)

Arnaquer · 30/09/2022 18:19

I like these though

I think it will look great. If you love the fabric you'll feel happy every time you look at them and that's what matters.

BobDear · 30/09/2022 18:33

The blue is too close to the grey without 'being' the grey iyswim.

Ignore, the pattern, but I would be looking at these sorts of colour combos....

I was coming on to suggest the Scion Lintu Berry Crush, but I see @BobDear has beaten me to it!

Agree with @Spanglybangles and @BobDear those are much better colours.
You need less wishy washy colours.

I would pick a plain bright yellow blind though, it's makes a room feel like the sun is always shining and will bring some brightness to your kitchen.

Add a vase of fresh flowers, a few real plants, a big bowl of fruit and you are sorted.

It's a lovely kitchen though and quite neutral so whatever you go for it will be hard to make a mistake.

Saz12 · 02/10/2022 10:19

The blind fabric comes in different colour ways, if you look on the Scion website you can order free samples. I’ve also been looking for blinds!!

TickledOnion · 02/10/2022 10:51

Thanks everyone. The blue is less washed out in real life but I think you might all be right.
What do you think of this? It’s Scion Ottil berry crush.

personally I wouldn’t have fabric Roman blinds in a kitchen. Inevitably they get greasy and are then the devil to clean. Also you are taking quite a lot of light from the window, as they hang over the top.

I would use ( cheaper) roller blinds , they come in a good range of colours and some patterns. The light excluding ones are quite stiff, I have sprayed a stencil on some and painted some as well. They are cheap enough to chuck when they get dirty or you just fancy a change.

As soon as it is too cold to be in the garden, my white ones are going to have jungle leaves on!

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 02/10/2022 11:02

And…why don’t you have a coloured splash back under the cupboards? That would introduce some warm colour into the kitchen.

BobDear · 02/10/2022 13:09

@TickledOnion they are better. But imo still slightly too muted. The ones I posted have cleaner colours without being horrible primary coloured - I would try and find a pattern you like with cleaner, definite colours.

BobDear · 02/10/2022 13:10

But they are still miles better than first suggestion. So on second look, if you love them they could work. See you if you can a sample?

Willdoitlater · 03/10/2022 13:19

The second blind you have posted appears to have grey in it. Is it the same sort of grey as your kitchen cupboard doors or different? It can be lighter or darker but not a bluey-grey versus a pinky-grey/greeny-grey/yellowy-grey for example.

@TickledOnion I love that flooring. Do you know its name please?

TickledOnion · 14/10/2022 17:49

@tracyon thank you. It was a b&q laminate but I can’t remember the name.
