Hallway...north facing...egyptian cotton or too dark?

It's currently LA duck egg which doesn't look duck egg at all, it looks like a proper sky blue. I can either touch up the current blue or go for an update. Its small and not tonnes of natural light.
Egyptian cotton always looks classy on pinterest etc but I'm concerned it could go one way or the other, classy or a bit drab. Woodwork is white and the white doors may be changed to oak. Light fittings need changing, not high ceilings so it's hard to make it feel airy.

Any thoughts welcome!

I had EC in my hallway, also north facing with no glass other than on the door. Worked lovely, not too cool, not too warm. Hid mud/wet splats from dogs well. Got the kitchen version so was wipeable

We have EC in our living room. It's a lovely colour. Neutral but not bland. Changes with the light - warm under lamplight in the evenings and bright in the sunshine. Not too cool for North facing either. I really like it.

On a rainy grey day

That looks lovely - is that a different shade at the top and bottom?

Dannexe · 29/09/2022 18:00

Yes just bog standard white above the picture rail

MistressIggi · 29/09/2022 18:03

Looks beautiful. Sash windows too!

Thank you, I’m pleased with it. It’s a very warm beigey grey. Almost identical to F&B skimming stone.

I think it works best in darker spaces. Great choice.

We lightened our hall by replacing the solid, very dark doors with light oak doors with glass panels. It made such a difference.

A large wall mirror also lightens the hall by reflecting light.

Choose your lightbulbs in the 4000K light range. It will give a daylight type white light which will suit the Egytian cotton. Bulbs with higher K ratings (eg 5000k plus) give a cold blue/white light. Bulbs with lower than 4000K will look yellow and warmer but change the look of the EC considerably.

A glass shade will help create airiness

Oh thank you for the comments and pictures, I'm very tempted to go for it! Picked up a tester but they are awful to use with those tiny rollers!
