Short or long pile carpet? Grey or beige?

So we think we picked a carpet. But now I’m second guessing. We can change our mind before it’s ordered next week so I’m seeking some opinions from all of you please!

We are going for a nylon carpet with thick 11mm bouncy underlay. I think nylon flattens less but this will be down for a long time so I want to make sure we make the best choice with regards to flattening. Whilst I love the toe sinky feeling of a longer pile carpet I’m scared with furniture etc when we move it around it won’t spring back or I’ll be forever hoovering and wondering why my carpet looks flat. We have the option of a 16mm one which we discounted for this reason or an 11mm one which doesn’t have the toe sinky feeling but is still thicker than the average carpet and feels very soft, like velvet.

We’re in process of renovating house top to bottom and will have the same carpet throughout except in kitchen, and downstairs hallway. Will have oak doors, mainly white paint for couple of years until we add colour, a dark industrial style kitchen. Now second guessing our choice of grey. It’s not a blue-grey but has a hint of warmth to it. Should we go with cream instead? Worried that would look old fashioned. We only have a couple of beige pieces which we can easily swap out (couple pairs of curtains and a chaise longue), everything else we have is dark in colour or grey (such as sofas are grey).

thanks for any advice

Picture for reference (lightest grey one going for currently) and pile is between the two top ones in image (the black and the dark blue-grey)

I think grey will look old fashioned soon. It's definitely on its way out. A warm beigy cream is nicely neutral and will still go with your grey furniture.
