Does anyone know how to fix wobbly loo seats?

We had a new bathroom installed earlier this year and I now have a loo seat with enclosed fittings.

The plumber said that the loo seat lifts off if you press two silver buttons and it was all on YouTube.

The loo seat has come loose on one side so I tried to press the buttons - nothing happens. I googled for more info. Sometimes you lift the buttons off instead and pull the loo seat out that way. The buttons won’t come off.

The disc on the wobbly side lifts off now and the loo seat is very very wobbly. I have emailed and phones the plumber but have been ghosted.

we have guests arriving shortly and so the loo seat should be fixed as a matter of priority.

You’re going to want a diagram, aren’t you?

So, does anyone know how to get the buttons off a self closing loo seat with hidden fixings - or should I find a new plumber?

The loo seat looks a bit like this. But the buttons will not budge and I’m worried that I might break the whole thing.

Have you found the buttons?
Ignore the silver caps on the loo for now. The buttons are at the bottom of the loo seat, where the small red arrows are in your photo. Push them in at the same time and the loo seat should lift away. I didn't know they existed in mine until I went on YouTube.
Then you need to prize up the silver caps with a screwdriver and the screw fitting is hidden underneath that and can easily be tightened.

Hi Suzy. Thanks for replying.

The picture shows the white buttons (by the red arrows) and my buttons are silver. I also have silver discs which is adding to the confusion!

So, if you imagine that I am trying to press the white buttons as per the photo - nothing happens. It’s completely stiff.

I have exact same one and it was broken for ages before I figured it out. It was just really, really stiff. There are metal screws sticking up that the toilet seat slot onto, once you press the buttons in it should slide/jiggle off. If it's already coming off one side you probs need new seat. I think I paid around £90 for same one though.

The buttons won’t budge at all. It also looks as if the metal pins go straight into the buttons which is why they won’t move. I’ll take a photo of the actual loo seat later (when II’ve scrubbed it rigorously).

Here's mine. This is the button, ringed in red. There is one on each side of the seat. Push in and the seat lifts off. Maybe yours have got gunked up? Mine is old but works fine.

The loo was only installed in March and it was dodgy by June so I don’t think it’s that, sadly, as that could be rectified.

These are my photos. Do you see what I mean about nowhere for the buttons to go?
