Are B&Q kitchens any good?

We're hoping to get a new kitchen soon, we're still looking around but surely B&Q kitchens are ok? Tell me the good the bad and the ugly regarding them please 😊

My husband is a b and q fitter and always says they are good much better than wren who are more expensive and he will be putting a b and q one in ours when we do it

That's great to know!!! Off hand do you is the price for fitting included in the quote or how does that work?

We bought an alpinia kitchen but got our own fitter, we love it, no problems so far (6 months))

I’ve had 2 fitted. . The current one is around 16 years old now. Only issues I have had is with the odd door hinge dropping, but it’s sortable and they have had fair use. The only advantage with the last one was that they used to have 2 thicknesses of carcasses, so the ones we had first were much sturdier. Had no issues with the actual doors at all..

The kitchen in my house is B&Q, it's been in more than 15 years and looks new still (style slightly dated but perfect condition). The staff kitchen at work is Wren, only 7 or 8 years old and several cupboards are delaminating near the kettle and microwave. Wouldn't use them.

Our B&Q kitchen is poor quality, and it wasn't very well fitted. We didn't go for the cheapest option but the units are very poor quality. The stainless steel sink is also poor quality - very thin metal. Our fitter was stroppy about being called back when water leaked from the draining board onto the chipboard cupboard interior underneath - he had not sealed the round plate where the space for a tap was left (the tap being fitted in the other position). He was insistent that this did not constitute a leak! The worktops were not fitted according to the plan and one falls short of where it should have been. The small lights under the cupboards have rusted and it is impossible to change the bulbs in them...So personally I would not recommend B&Q. There is always a risk with companies that use sub-contracted fitters.

Thanks everyone! Everything is so bloody expensive (we haven't had quotes yet) but it's a fairly big kitchen and ideally I'd like the utility to match- it's gonna be eye watering I'm sure. The kitchen at present is terrible (previous owners) and we really need to update.

We had a B & Q kitchen in our "new house" 23 years ago which we paid about £1500 for including hob, oven, dishwasher and extractor (not worktops, other appliances or Belfast sink) Some of the doors have now de-laminated but we feel that we have very much had our money's worth. Obviously, we now very much need a new kitchen and will consider B & Q again but not wrapped doors. The thought of spending over 10k on a kitchen horrifies me. But if a kitchen was to last me another 20 years it would likely take me to pretty much the end of my life, or I really wouldn't care what it looked like anyway.

We put in a B&Q kitchen in our last house and it was still immaculate when we moved out (and we’re not gentle on things!)
we went for high end B&Q which was similar price to other mainstream places but better quality - however I wouldn’t go bottom end unless it’s changed.
we did our own fitting - if you’re using your own fitter then find out if they’re willing to buy trade for you as sometimes the prices are better.
