Bunk/high bed help

We have just moved house and we are decorating DD’s new bedroom. Her new room is nearly twice the size of her old room, so she has much more space. DD has been asking for a high bed, and she isn’t sure if she wants a mid sleeper or a high sleeper. She currently has a single bed with drawers underneath. What age are these types of beds suitable until? I know there is no specific age limit. DD is 12 and I’m wondering how long it might last her. We have average ceilings, which are about 240-250cm high which should give enough space if we go for the high sleeper option. Would you get a mid sleeper or a high sleeper? We have looked at several from Argos and a couple of other stores and I’m wondering if they are any good.

They are a total ball ache to change the bedding and we just had a mid sleeper. We got rid of dds when she was about 11 and had broken her ankle and couldn't get into it. She had to sleep downstairs until we got her new one.

I wouldn't get one unless you absolutely need the extra room underneath.

We have recently moved and DD11 now has a high sleeper so as to fit a desk underneath - there would be nowhere for one otherwise. Trying to change the bed is very stressful but the worst thing has been that she's not been well, and not being able to properly check on her / take her temperature.

DS had a mid sleeper and it was awful. I cursed it everytime I had to change the bedding. It was just a dumping ground below and always looked a bloody mess. I was so pleased when we got rid of it.
I would also say at 12, it's not very practical- when she has friends over as they can't all sit on the bed.
At 12, we put DS in a small double, it made him feel very grown up but it also gave us another bed if family came to stay. DS then moves for a night into DS2s room.

I wuld recommend a highsleeper, I got DD one from Furniture123, it has so many features in one bed, desk, wardrobe, bookcase, even a built in mirror and corkboard. she loves it and can easily grow into it.

Both mine have mid sleepers and one (tween) is swapping for a high sleeper as she needs the space under for a desk. They love them. DP had one in his teens (until he was 20 and over 6 ft) and said it was great. Like PP we got the mid sleepers from furniture 123, Julian Bowden ones.

I dont think I’d get one for a 12 year old. We’ve just got one for my 6 year old with a plan that she’ll probably be in it until she is 12 ish. If her room is a good size why don’t you get her a double, that way it will see her through the teen years to adulthood.
