Hi I am having new worktops from Gemini worktops, i previously selected staturio ice. Now thinking of just getting plain white, price difference is £1400 and they are above £5k. has anyone felt in this dilemma before and how did you decide?

We went for ones with bits of shimmers in them- we had a plain one in our last house and I found watermarks and crumbs showed up really easily.

freesoul12 · 13/07/2022 18:27

thank you , its got little shimmer in it .its just a tough decision , do you have white one with shimmer in it ?

I'd go for the veined one.
Plain white shows up every mark and crumb.

We’ve got a white speckly version with small grey veins and a tiny amount of glitter, crumbs are completely invisible on it, is that an option? I prefer it to the ones which are plainer with just large veins across them.

I've just had marble style quartz and it does look good.. But I can see the joins where 2 surfaces meet iyswim so just wanted to say make sure the fitters match the adhesive with the surface.. With mine apparently it was hard to match. Also what colour is your kitchen

yes some of the veins are too intrusive, they look nice in showhomes but in reality i am not sure as we got tons of unwashed dishes lying around to give character and warmth to kitchen

We got a slight grain and it looked stunning. Your veined picture looks nice. Avoid anything too intensely patterned though unless you really love it (they are a bit marmite, a future purchaser may hate.)

Aria999 · 13/07/2022 19:54

Personally I think all plain white looks like a hospital but I know it's a thing at the moment

Caspianberg · 13/07/2022 19:55

Ours is plain white, with oak lower cabinets and white upper. It doesn’t leave marks or show dirt at all which I had been worried about

Yes its quite a big decision as you will be stuck with it for a while and its a lot of money.

Personally we have the calcatta gold which is the thick vein one in white. Theres no gold in it, just a warmer cream. Tbh it looks stunning and elevates the kitchen a lot. It looks classical and timeless.

I always liked strong/bright colours but in decor Ive learned to tone it down so you won't get bored/irritated/go out of fashion & potential new buyers wont be put off.

Hope this helps?! 😊

Calcutta gold is nice but its out of my budget, perhaps cost me £8k as i am having waterfall edges done , i would have gone for it definitely if i could afford it

We went for grey veined, I originally wanted quite plain white.

Would suggest that it depends on the scope of what you're doing with it. We have it as massive island worktop, and full to ceiling height behind the sink in what is quite a big room with dark units. Plainer quartz would indeed have made it look like a hospital or a butcher.

And buy HG stone cleaner spray, it's bloody brilliant at keeping it shiny. Works a treat on stainless steel and glass too. Best stuff ever.

Jofergo · 13/07/2022 20:44

I've got one of the ones with bits of glass including some mirror in it. It's a white background with blue/ grey/ green/ mirror. I love it.

It bounces light around quite a dark space beautifully and I've stained it in one place with turmeric but no-one other than me notices.

I've got Staturio Ice from Gemini and it looks absolutely lovely

We have similar to @Aria999, slightly veined. Very happy with it!

GCAcademic · 14/07/2022 08:58

The plain white will look too stark and clinical with that colour kitchen unit.

i have received samples today. thats how they look

Our pure white is like this. I think it’s whiter than your left sample
