We are doing a new kitchen in our old cottage. We have quite low ceilings due to the age and lots of beams. The kitchen is a reasonable size and quite light.

Thinking of having a Rangemaster Elise in stone blue. Maybe F&B lime white units and wimbourne white on the walls and ceiling? What would you do for tiles? I had been thinking of something more dramatic but I'm worried about the low ceiling making things seem too dark. I'd quite like to paint the door a soft pink as well 😂

We've got a similar kitchen. Light room, beams, low ceiling. Colour adds to cosyness rather than making it dark. We haven't got any tiles, but do have dark green units. You could always have tongue & groove on walls in between top and bottom units, painted same light colour as units. And just tiles behind oven. Look at DeVol kitchens for inspirations. Real wood or terracotta floor for warmth.

Hi OP. With the ceilings being low you definitely want to stick with lighter colour tones to brighten up the room. I really like the range master and can serve as a focal point. I think painting the door soft pink would be lovely, keep the walls, floors & ceilings bright. I'd go for either like a ivory/off white or cream tiles.

I'd use wood or a light stone or natural looking tile. Quite plain but timeless and relaxing. I wouldn't have anything dramatic. You can add extra colour with lighting and accessories.

That blue is lovely.

Thank you, everyone. The floor will be elm boards.

Another question- the cooker comes with trim in either brushed nickel or nickel. Things like sockets and light switches in the rest of the house are a sort of antiquey dark bronze. Would you have the sockets and switches in the kitchen in the same bronze or in nickel to go with the cooker?

I don't think it will matter. I'd go for the one you like the most
