On the back of the thread about what is the new grey ...we're thinking we might change the colour of the walls of our kitchen/living area to make it warmer and cosier. The units were white before and we've test painted them to green (see pic) - which we like. Any ideas of which colour we should choose for the walls?

Dh thinks we should paint the living area one colour and the kitchen another but I think that might just make it look like two rooms with the wall knocked down (which it is). It's a large space and I like the airiness this brings but am feeling the grey makes it look cold and a bit clinical.

I came on to say green as I converted from grey to foresty/emerald green which is luscious but your cupboards are already green!

Personally I would go for a crisp clean white as it will provide a nice contrast then get some yellow features (vase of sunflowers) which will bring some colour.

Anything is better than grey.
In your case I'd say white.

Pink! A pale, dusty pink.

Whatever green you used (it looks dark grey in the pic?), go with the recommended white from the manufacturer, eg F&B always suggest the right white to tone with each of their colours.

If you did the kitchen walls white with the green units, then the living area the same green as the units with the ceiling the same white as the kitchen, it would tie the space together while still creating a cosy feel to the living area and keeping the kitchen bright.

No helpful advice I'm afraid but the green units are gorgeous. Maybe off white walls would work well plus good accessories.

I was thinking white as well, it looks quite dark (if lovely) in your photo and white would brighten it up.

White? Wevet from farrow and ball is gorgeous.

Scrambledeggz · 20/06/2022 09:17

White, maybe F&B pointing?

Cream walls. Warm colours are in.

I’d go for a warm-leaning pale stone or greige colour. Keeps it light but warms it up a little, and easy to use in a living room as well.

The cupboards will be F&B Calke green no. 34. Our tester pot painting is a bit rubbish but the cupboards are going to be spray painted by a company so the finish will be better. That's interesting re F&B doing to al matches. Will look that up. This is the living area space so whatever wall paint we use has to match a purple and a green sofa.

i do agree with PP that neutral tones are having a renaissance after the cool tones greys from the past few years.

my home is painted in F&B Skimming Stone and Ammonite. Ammonite is a true griege in my opinion. I suggested Wevet previously as it is lovely with green tones.
