Will oil-based paint go yellow? And can I paint over it if I sand it?!

I have just painted a windowsill in Dulux Once satinwood. It looks like a gloss and I don't like it so am going to paint over it. I have remembered, belatedly, that I've heard that oil-based paint can go yellow. This was certainly the case with oil-based paint in the past. Does anyone know whether newer oil-based paints also go yellow?

If they don't, then I can paint over this with an oil-based eggshell paint. If they do, then I'd prefer to use a water-based paint. The problem is that apparently you can't put water-based paint on oil-based paint, as it won't go on properly. If I sand the windowsill first, would it be ok? Or would I need to completely remove all the oil-based paint, which I imagine would probably be difficult?!

Thanks so much for any advice!!

Oil based paints still go yellow IME. But it tends to be where there isn’t much light that they go yellow. A windowsill ought to be fine.

If you did want to do water based over oil based I’d look at a primer that you use inbetween - Zinsser ones are meant to be good (but pricey)
