Living room toy storage

Any good recommendations? There is no room for toys in the bedrooms, so the living room is getting overrun.

We currently have one toybox which fits about 10% of all the toys, and whenever DC looks for something it all comes out to get to the bottom. I need a good storage solution before the baby is mobile and starts going for her sibling's lego.

There is plenty of space so I am looking for a large unit (at least 1.5m x 1.5m) so it needs to be easy on the eye (house is country style/ wood features). I need something as practical as the IKEA Trofast so kids can pull out units and help tidy up, but that looks much nicer. Does it exist?

Would love some inspiration!

Have some built in cupboards or drawers made to match the style of the other furniture (or free standing if you are planning to move).

An antique chest of drawers cheap from fb market place then a blanket box/ footstool with lid for a coffee table. And minimise/ rotate toys so everything can be put of sight by time kids go to bed?

We have a couple of ikea Hemnes sideboards plus a tall matching cabinet with trofast boxes inside. DS aged 3 and 6 can access easily and get toys out easily and ample storage to house everything! Matches interior and practical do win win.

I had this dilemma and ended up getting the pine trofast unit with the white boxes and stained the wood to match our mid century style sideboard. They hold a lot of stuff. Overflow/rotated toys go in a wanky Fortnum and Mason hamper that DD still can’t undo the buckles on —hurrah—.

If you have the cash obviously a bespoke bit of furniture would be ideal, but the “shed loads of toys” stage doesn’t last forever. Get two trofast units, stick one in the garage or shed and rotate the boxes as and when they start getting bored.

I have a horizontal kallax and also a 4 cube one. Was going to invest in something more expensive but figured this stage won't last forever and anything nice will likely get drawn on!
