Hi
We are redecorating our hallway and I'm really keen to have one navy feature wall. The area is fairly light with lots of glass in the front door and a full length window right next to it plus a large window at the top of the stairs. I would do all other walls white and then a light grey floor with light grey/silver accessories etc. I'm looking for some inspiration. Please share your navy interiors with me 🙏

I have done this in my not so light hallway (north facing house) and regret it tbh... Even with lots of light I'd consider a lighter shade of blue! Big job to paint over (goes all the way up to 1st floor landing + dado rails) but eventually I will do it!

Oh really @ValBiro that's interesting to hear. Does the hallway just feel too dark? That is my concern that it just brings the room in too much

Yes, it looked great when I saw it all over Pinterest and insta but the reality of it is a bit light sapping! Of course it might be different for you if it's a light filled area? We've got a stormy greeny grey blue that is quite dark in our bedroom which is also north facing and that doesn't seem to steal the light quite as much. I think it's something about the intensity of the navy that does it! Hallways aren't supposed to be cosy really, bedrooms are? I don't know, but it's the only paint choice I regret in the house!

When I bought my house it had this dark red colour in the hallway. I don't have additional window like you do but even still it really sapped the light. Also looked dark no matter what. I ended up going for jasmine white (i.e. just off white) to brighten it all up

If you want blue I'd go with something like F&B Oval Room Blue. It's dark enough to give your hallway depth but not too dark to sap the light.

Oval room blue is very similar to the valspar colour I have in our north facing bedroom and it never looks as dark or cold as the navy blue in the hallway does! Lesson learnt for me!

I have 1 living room wall dark navy and the rest duck egg blue, I love it but I think it would be too dark in my hallway to be honest. I used sapphire salute from dulux, it covered beautifully but was so bloody thick it was a pain to paint with 😅

I’m curious on this too. I was considering painting my small windowless downstairs loo navy, was considering farrow and ball Hague blue or inchyra blue, which is softer, but am hesitating a little…

Oval room is not a navy tho. It's a teal

I'm just about to do mine navy but not stated the job yet.

Correct, oval room is not navy, but it's a slightly more forgiving dark blue I reckon... @MiseryWIthAStent It looks lovely! Reckon you've got enough light in there to pull that off. Really nice shade.

Exactly. It's blue but the right amount of dark for a hallway.

Went to homebase after work today to look at paint samples and saw a nice shade called peacock blue which is actually homebases's own brand. A nice mix of blue and grey but lighter than the navy so shouldnt make the area too dark but still a statement wall. Bought the tester pot so will try it out tomorrow.

I have just painted my downstairs loo with Wickes Urban Nights.
i did intend for it to be more black / charcoal but it’s come out a very deep denim blue which I actually really love.
ive kept the ceiling white but painted the woodwork to match the walls.

@Riddlediddle that's lovely, very similar to the colour I have used in the upstairs hallways which I am planning on using to paint over the navy downstairs! It's still lovely and deep enough to be impactful.
