What will work with F&B borrowed light?

We’ve bought and are redecorating a new house and as our last one was pale grey all the way I’m trying to be a bit more adventurous with colour. This has led to ridiculous indecision and an actual fortune spent on tester pots. In the end the painter was due to arrive and I hadn’t settled on a colour for the dressing room (the spare room but just two of us so I’m making it a dressing room for my terrible clothes). So I went for a colour-matched F&B Borrowed Light on three walls (a pale blue, it’s ok), and Railings (dark blue black) on the chimney breast and facing wall. And I hate it. Massively too dark and makes the room look really narrow. A pale grey carpet is down now so it goes ok with the borrowed light but I really want to repaint the “feature” walls and now I’m tied for contrasting colours. We’ve also ordered a dusky pink sofa bed for that room. The painter has to come back in a couple of weeks when the kitchen is in to finish up and I want to swallow my embarrassment - he raised an eyebrow at the railings - and ask him to repaint but I don’t know where to go colour-wise. Any ideas?

Borrowed light is a beautiful colour. Have you looked at Hague Blue? It very much depends on the lighting you have in your space, but it's a dark blue colour which is much lighter than Railings, see an example of it here

Or, what about painting the feature wall a colour slightly darker than the rest, maybe Parma Grey?

If you can't decide though on a colour though, why not just paint all of the walls the same colour and use a piece of artwork or something as the statement piece instead of colour?

Whatever you choose, I'm sure it will look stunning! Good luck xx

The Parma Grey looks really nice and I wouldn't have thought of that one. Thanks!

Farrow and Ball website has some really good guidance about this topic.
Also; Instagram is a great source to view other people's homes and see colour schemes they've chosen which can really help with the decision making.
Search for ##farrowandball in general or specifically #borrowedlight for ideas.

We have a borrowed light kitchen with Hague blue units and it’s lovely.

I love Borrowed Light. If you look on the F&B website, there are various suggestions for what to pair with it. Personally, I would just use one colour for the whole room.
