We are having a woodburner put in the back sitting room.

It has a fireplace with an original slate surround already which we like and can keep.

My question is about the 'fire chamber' by which I mean the inside of the fireplace- the bit the woodburner stands in.

Our other sitting room has the original bricks which are fine. The man who is doing the fitting said we could also have:

Tiles
or fireproof boarding which you can paint to a colour to match your room- can't remember the name of it.
What does anyone else have?
Do you have a picture of yours that you can share? I am hopeless at visualising things.

Unless you only butin very well dried and seasoned wood, it will produce a lot of pollution.

firebydesign.co.uk/fire-by-design/vlaze/vlaze-finishes/

Had these cut to size as the background in the chamber.

We had them do a specialist colour for us, it didnt add to much on to the price, I cant remember the price but thought they were reasonable

I would like to change the colour now though if Im honest!!

We picked Cadmueir (cant spell it)

In fact looking at those again I would probably go for the Oche with the crackle glaze effect over the top, would look lovely

We will only use very dry, seasoned wood.

I am thinking something like this but the surround would be our slate one. These are herringbone brick slip panels. We already have a slate hearth too

Whatever wood you burn they still churn out a huge amount of pollution. Some woodburners are less polluting than others, but they are generally terrible for public health, and terrible for your own health (Lung cancer and other lung diseases.)

declutteringmymind · 06/04/2022 19:26

I like the first one.

bellac11 · 06/04/2022 19:27

Love the herringbone brick pattern

LuluBlakey1 · 06/04/2022 19:30

Other alternative is a fireproof panel that you can paint to suit, and possibly painting the fireplace.

I didnt explain what vlaze is, its a metal panel with vitreous enamel, so easy to install remove when you get bored.

But as I say if I re did it, I would want a lighter colour now so that the fire stands out more, our burner is 'bronze' colour and the surround is the cademuir pattern in a chocolate brown.
Ours is a charnwood c5

No prices on them and they seem to so the south west of England. We are up in the north-east. I do like the boats though.
