Patchy paint! (pic included)

Recently moved and am painting - some walls had clearly had things attached to them and some areas had been filled. These were sanded prior to painting. One wall continues to be really patchy! Picture is after three coats of paint. Will another coat help or is the wall doomed?! TIA.

My bedroom ceiling has 3 coats of white paint (dulux once as it happens) on it but I can still see the bits of polyfilla through it. It makes me disproportionately annoyed every time I glance up.

I will never use Dulux again, not sure when the quality changed but the coverage was awful for the whole room. What’s the point of paying for once when you have to do it 3 times? It was plain lining paper we were painting on the walls. Grrr!

Another coat of paint can’t hurt I suppose but it might, as in my experience, just be a waste of effort.

It's as if the strip has been replastered and the plaster wasn't sealed

You might need to put a stain-blocker paint over that area before painting it again, such as Zinsser Cover Stain Primer Paint www.toolstation.com/zinsser-bulls-eye-123-primer-sealer-paint/p95233

I've had the same problem in certain areas,
Can't help but did see a possible solution on Instagram, will see if I can share one here

2nd vote for Zinsser. Expensive, but got me out of a similar tricky situation last year. Check Screwfix and Toolstation for good prices.

Oh, and I've also used Zinsser Peel Stop on a wall that had been wallpapered previously. Despite scrubbing the wall well, there were traces of adhesive which caused the paint to bubble and look patchy. Peel Stop seals it all in so you can just paint over it. Wonderful stuff - go on their website and see which product would suit you best.

I'm going to try this ... vm.tiktok.com/ZML95taVA/
