Linen bedding

I really like the idea of linen bedding. Is it worth the splurge? What are the pros and cons of it? Does it really last as long as the manufacturers claim? Does it ever bobble up?
I like the idea of it, it seems like it’s easy to look after and doesn’t need ironing. I’m a busy single mother, so anything that is easy to look after is a bonus.

I didn’t really understand why some people liked it so much until I got some! I’ve had a set from the Secret Linen Store for a year now and just love them. They are especially nice in winter as they don’t have that cold feeling like cotton. We also have a set of cotton ones from JL and they are nowhere near as nice for me now, although I was perfectly happy with them.

I’m planning to get another set but not sure if to go for Secret Linen Store again or try elsewhere.

I’m a convert. Likewise wool duvets!

I love my linen sheets, mine are from Soak and Sleep. Linen is very long lasting, washes well and doesn't need ironing. It feels soft and comfortable, warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

Love our linen bedding. We have some pure linen from Soak and Sleep but I also recently bought a linen/cotton blend duvet cover from Dusk which is equally good and was very good value.

I love mine. I don't think there are many downsides, but it can feel a bit rough compared to quality cotton with a high thread count.

I love my linen bedding. Mine is from ikea. It feels so much nicer than cotton

"It feels soft and comfortable, warm in the winter and cool in the summer." Can't add much to that, after using linen, cotton sheets feel clammy and tangly.
Dh, who had no strong feelings about them to start, has asked me to get another set as I keep trying to wash and dry them and remake the bed in one day so I don't have to use the cotton sets.

I love my linen bedding. I have from Heals, Soak and Sleep and H & M.

Probably Heals is the best quality however I find it too heavy and thick and I much prefer the lightweight H & M.

Thankyou for your feedback on linen sheets. I’m going to invest in a set.

I love linen but there is no doubt that it gets crumpled very easily. If it is not ironed, it will start off crumpled. If it is ironed, it will last about five minutes before it's creased.

Love it but low maintenance it is not.

BridgeofStock · 04/04/2022 21:48

I adore my linen bedding. I do like ironed bed linen and was expecting it to be a pain to iron, but actually it irons beautifully. But it's just as good unironed which is a godsend. Bit rougher than cotton, as mentioned above, but it does soften with each wash.

Warm on cool or cold nights and cool on hot ones, it's amazing to sleep in. Invest!

Noseylittlemoo · 04/04/2022 21:57

I treated myself to some about 4 years ago and I definitely notice the difference in summer - it feels a little cooler and more comfortable when it's very hot. It's got softer and easier to iron but I'm quite upset that the fitted sheet has ripped - I had visions of being one of those people that kept their linen for 20+ years! It was form White Company so it was a good quality brand . Luckily the duvet cover and pillowcases are fine.

I’ve got two sets from H&M and love them. My partner was dubious, but even he agrees they are worth the money.

It is low maintenance because it is supposed to be rumpled and crumpled! If you prefer your sheets to be crisp then linen is not for you.

Mine is from Soak and Sleep too. It's lovely.

I bought a white slightly padded bedspread to go over it all so no need for ironing.

DenholmElliot · 05/04/2022 10:45

Love mine too. From John Lewis.

And it absolutely is supposed to look crumpled. Thank God!

ExConstance · 06/04/2022 16:43

I love linen too. I dry mine over our bannister, I can get it spread out there and it comes out not too crinkly but not looking quite ironed.

BigSkies22 · 06/04/2022 19:37

I have linen from Heals, JL and Zara Home. Love it all, but will be looking first in Zara Home for the next item (which will be flat sheets).

Peony15 · 10/04/2022 00:50

I adore linen, all
my duvet covers and pillow cases are H and M
ones ( white ) .Love the look/feel/no
ironing needed ( Superking bed ). The more you wash it the softer it gets.
Sleeping on it can feel a little rougher than cotton so I also
have 2 of my 4 pillowcases ( 2 King + 2 standard ) covered with with cotton or silk
in a different colour. Silk feels amazing on skin and smoothes hair too. Warms in winter , cools in summer. If you suffer from
eczema also helps.
Sheet I also have cotton ( 1000 threadcount ) , the more you wash it the softer it gets.
H and M linen is very reasonable and lasts ages, ditto the other items. Whilst it seems extravagant, most people spend 8 out of 24 hours
roughly asleep, so nice to snooze in lovely fabrics. Personally prefer linen duvet cover , silk pillowcase , high thread count sheet .
