Shutter style advice

I'm considering getting (?) plantation shutters for a bedroom. It's a large sash and case window about 1m wide and 2.5m tall. Any advice from people who have them?

Am I better having a 50/50 width split or in thirds? Have seen a few in the area which seem to be divided into thirds but the borders seem to take up a lot of unnecessary space and I imagine would block out a lot of light.

Wide or thin gaps between the slots? Sorry don't have the correct terminology.

I have them on similar size sash windows. I went for the medium slats. I wanted extra large for max light but sales person told me they would look ridiculous and I’m glad I listened. I have horizontal break in the middle in line with the window bars and they are bifold both sides. So four panels total. I don’t know why you would do thirds it will would be too much frame and you would lose light I adore mine. They cast lovely shadows when open They also keep room much cooler in summer and warmer in winter. Beware though they are like Pringles When you start you dont stop. I started with one window and now the whole house has them.

I have just moved into a Victorian terrace with white wide Venetian blinds with tapes - was really pleased they left them behind but now we have moved in I hate the light they suck out of the room - I really hate the bloody things! Our room is east facing and the window is 1m by 2.5m. No way would I consider shutters now, I like the look of them but I like light more!

Thanks @butterflyfox would you mind sending me a photo of what you mean? Doesn't 4 panels have even more frame?
