Show me your small bathroom - need ideas

Our bathroom is so unappealing! It's only 7ft by 4.5 ft and has a shower over the bath, sink and toilet and basically that's all that fits with small floor space. The tiles are those very small squares so there is so much grout to clean!

I keep googling "small bathroom inspiration" etc but it's so frustrating as whilst some are small they are mostly big compared to our space!

If you have small bathroom to show off I'd love to see the photo for ideas!
@Salsalove I love that picture! Following as we are renovating our tiny bathroom. It has a basin, bidet, toilet, shower, washing machine and dryer but is tiny. We are going to get a new door that doesn't open inwards and hopefully that will mean we can have a slightly bigger shower.
Thank you! I got it from one of those art.com type shops. The best thing we did in our bathroom was to raise the ceiling and put in a skylight. It’s made a huge difference especially as it’s a fully interior room with no windows.

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 16/02/2022 13:51

If you want a small bathroom try mine!
It’s twice as wide as the bath and the length of the bath, so really tiny 😊There’s a washbasin and separate loo.

SalsaLove · 16/02/2022 13:52

@ AwkwardPaws27 thanks! It’s narrow but long. Bathroom proportions are an absolute nightmare!

BluTangClan · 16/02/2022 22:09

@stuntbubbles love your tiles! Had some samples like that, but wasn't brave enough to go for them.

YolandiFuckinVisser · 16/02/2022 22:27

Our bathroom is tiny, we used to have a corner bath but it was too small for any of us to lie down in and meant we had to have a sliding door that was always falling off with visitors trapped inside. We went for a nice big shower instead.

We took our bath out and replaced with shower cubicle.

We have a tiny bathroom.. the loo is behind the door! We just moved in and it feels pretty dated. We want to get the whole lot ripped out and just have a shower.

BlingLoving · 17/02/2022 11:21

I'm not entirely sure how big ours is, but sounds similar to yours but it's wide rather than deep. Which meant we've squeezed a p shape bath with a overhead shower on the right, sink under window and toilet on the left(opposite door - door opens and JUST misses the toilet seat, to give sense of depth).

What I realised has made the biggest difference is things like the tiles - we have tiled the entire room with largish tiles and the floor has only 6 v big tiles (including under the bath). It makes it look neat and spacious even though it's not.

Lovely bathrooms on this thread.

Stuntbubbles
Our tiny bathroom is similar to yours. Whilst in the bath I can reach over and touch the toilet lid with minimum effort. I dream of having a bathroom big enough for a freestanding bath.

MadrigalCorp · 17/02/2022 18:54

The basin units with drawers under rather than a traditional sink help reduce clutter so that makes the space look bigger. The sinks and toilets that are wall hung also make the room look bigger because you see more floor (and you can hide bog rolls under the sink)

We got a short bath for our en-suite - 1500 or 1600mm not 1800 and put it lengthwise across the end of the bathroom like @Plump82 so the toilet didn't have to go next to where your head goes when you're in the bath (yuk)!.

Would anyone like to share how much their new bathroom cost including fitting?
Thanks

@Amithatbad1 Try this recent thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4483270-Show-me-your-fitted-bathroom-and-how-much-did-you-pay?pg=1

I shared details there as did a number of others

Salahdor · 17/02/2022 19:44

Some beautiful bathrooms here, thank you for sharing. I am leaning towards losing the bath! I love some of your design ideas, especially use of mirrors! Also like the idea of boxing in the toilet and sink unit. Would have thought that would make them look too big in such a small space but in your photos it works x

I can't take photos as DS is in the bath! However we kept the bath but managed to get a larger bath than we thought as the builder suggested fitting the bath into the bricks. That gave us an extra few centimetres each side.

We also refitted the door to open outwards which gave us room for a radiator opposite the bath

LittleEsme · 17/02/2022 20:10

@AwkwardPaws27

We opted for a shower instead upstairs, as only 1.3m wide (although we are keeping a bath in the downstairs bathroom which is 4'8"x8ft, so looking at some of these ideas with interest!)
I love your mirror. Where did you get it from?
AwkwardPaws27 · 17/02/2022 20:13

@LittleEsme it's from Drench, called "Harbour Status".

LittleEsme · 17/02/2022 20:18

Thank you!

Apart from the plumbing we did everything ourselves and bought everything from individual shops which really kept the price down. We were just over £2k for everything. We got a bathroom company in and they quoted us £7.5k!
NecklessMumster · 18/02/2022 15:35

Here. Cost around £7000 all in but that included moving bath position

NecklessMumster · 18/02/2022 15:39

Also included new ceiling hoist as DP sealant attempts had leaked and rotted floor Hmm

ChristinePerfect · 19/02/2022 08:25

We went for panels instead of tiles, no grout to clean! Plus the room is warmer now, the panels don't feel cold to touch like tiles do.

mrshoho · 19/02/2022 14:27

We redid our ridiculously teeny tiny family bathroom recently. It was around 7k all in. The bulk of the costs were for labour as we didn't go for high end fittings. Although small I love it now and it is a breeze to clean as no more nooks gathering dust. Still have to find some nice towels. We went from no storage to a handy under sink cabinet and a wall mounted mirrored unit that is brill.
