Duvet recommendations that aren't feather or down.

I am absolutely boiling at night despite the windows being open year round, lightweight bedding etc. Poor dh feels like he's sleeping in the Arctic at the moment.

Looking for a new duvet, considering a bamboo duvet but I don't like anything heavy or solid.

Any recommendations?

I’ve got a mid weight Fogarty wool duvet - helps me keep cool during the hot sweats and the other half says it keeps him nice and cosy.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 10/02/2022 13:27

Wool duvets are great.

Try the Woolroom- we have their basic summer weight duvet for the warmer months and I love it.

knittingaddict · 10/02/2022 13:28

I've had a wool duvet for years now and would highly recommend them. I love mine. My husband is always cold and I am always warm and this duvet seems to suit both of us.

Vintagegoth · 10/02/2022 13:28

Another vote for wool duvets. Also, we have recently started using 2 single duvets on a double bed Scandinavian style and we are both sleeping better as a result.

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 10/02/2022 13:29

Baavet wool duvets are amazing.
I am a total convert.

countrygirl99 · 10/02/2022 13:30

Separate duvets is the answer. No problems pleasing both then.

RandomMess · 10/02/2022 13:32

We have separate single duvets utter bliss!!!

Wool is awesome.

Yarnivore · 10/02/2022 13:33

Wool.

ScandiNoir · 10/02/2022 20:34

We have The Woolroom duvets, we love them. We have the lightest one for the summer and the next one up for the winter and we are perfectly warm enough. There are 2 further levels of warmth, I would find them much too hot. We do live in a relatively modern house with double glazing...maybe would need level 3 if living in a draughty home and level 4 in North Pole!

HundredMilesAnHour · 10/02/2022 20:40

I have a silk duvet (i.e. the filling is silk) with a silk cover and it's very light and cooling and feels super-luxurious on my skin. Perfect for summer!

I tried a wool duvet from Baavet but it just didn't work for me. The lack of 'puffiness' was a compromise too far (nothing wrong with actual duvet, it just felt too much like a blanket for my tastes).

WannabeGilmoreGirl · 10/02/2022 20:44

We have a silk duvet too. Its perfect for my always hot dh and permanently freezing me. I love it and have recommended it to anyone who comes round Blush

PearlHart · 10/02/2022 21:01

I've just got a wool duvet from Devon Duvets - it's lovely Smile They also make something called Three Duvets which would allow you and your husband to have different togs in one duvet!

WildFlowerBees · 11/02/2022 06:19

I was looking at a bamboo duvet, I'm not keen on the wool I like a puffy duvet like down but not down! Will look at silk also

I felt really guilty for my silk duvets once I realised how silk is made Sad

BabycakesMatlala · 11/02/2022 15:16

We have separate Woolroom duvets, but they are a little on the flat side, so sounds as if they might not be what you're looking for.

eldorado02 · 11/02/2022 16:01

Baavet wool duvet - 4.0 tog equivalent does us all year round, apart from the very coldest nights of the year (a handful), when I pop a blanket on top. Cannot recommend enough!

pennysays · 11/02/2022 16:03

Homescapes luxury micro fibre have been brilliant for us. Got a winter one but it’s great throughout the year except the hottest nights.

SoosanCarter · 12/02/2022 01:21

Baavet, the super light one.

HirplesWithHaggis · 12/02/2022 01:26

Bamboo is lovely. I bought one for my ds and his dp, it was brilliant in my freezing cold farm house, and just as good in their new, centrally-heated and insulated home. I bought bamboo duvet cover etc to go with it, but they didn't like that, so I'm using them with my down duvet, love, love, love it. And I say that as the proud owner of very high thread count bed linen.

Same, I will never buy silk again. I am going to try bamboo.
DrNo007 · 12/02/2022 02:11

Another vote for woolroom wool duvet, but you also need a separate from your husband so that you can both sleep at a temperature that suits you.

DrNo007 · 12/02/2022 02:11

Separate duvet from husband, that should say.

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/02/2022 02:25

I had a silk one for years but recently replaced with a wool one from Devon Duvets, which I much prefer (it's puffier than the silk too).

I found DD a lovely company to deal with and they also do a 3-in-1 duvet so that you can have two separate weights/thicknesses joined together down the middle.

bookgirl1982 · 13/02/2022 17:56

I've not long bought a bamboo duvet for DS and it's lovely quality. I think the brand was Panda from the happy bed company.

PriamFarrl · 13/02/2022 17:59

I love my Baavet too.
It took a little getting used to and, being very honest, for the smell to go. That said I’ve had the same duvet summer and winter.

Pahh to separate duvets, separate beds here.
