Dark kitchen ideas

Our kitchen is north facing so can get really quite dark (like today!). What would you do with the decor? Part of me thinks I should try and lighten everything and keep the decor light and bright like a White Company advert. The other part of me thinks go with the darkness and get a dark blue or off black on the kitchen units and get warm hanging lights over the island or table?

My advice would be to go light. I know that dark colours are often recommended for dark spaces and I think that would work for a sitting room or bedroom but in a kitchen you want to be able to see what you are doing and feel that everything is clean. So I'd go with your first instinct.
Warm shades work better in North facing rooms as there is something about the quality of light that can make cooler tones look very grey and gloomy. Think Farrows Cream rather than Off White (F&B colours for reference- not suggesting you buy those ones Smile)

Thank you 😊 oh I'm totally with you on f&b front! I've never tried their cream so will look out of for it. I was thinking maybe pointing or new white?

I've not used New White, but I use Pointing for all woodwork and ceilings in place of Brilliant white as I live in an a Victorian house which seems to suit that better. It's definitely a very easy neutral to put with anything.
