Period house - what is your tv on?

Our lounge is Edwardian in style with high ceilings, coving, and wooden floors. The furniture and decor is mainly in keeping with this except for my 90s style wooden tv unit which is spoiling the look!

Ideally I would like built in alcove shelving and cupboards either side of the chimney breast but they are ££ so need something else in the short term until I can shell out for those.

Wondered what those of you with older houses have. Has anyone seen anything that would fit the bill?

One is on a carved dark wood chest in the sitting room and the other on a pine blanket box which holds the Xmas decs and out door cushions (livin kitchen)

We used to have one in the lower half of a Victorian chiffonier, DH carefully removed the back panel and replaced it with one with ventilation/ cable holes. Then it could have doors closed during the day. This was fine until we upgraded to a massive 32" tv Shock. We did look for a larger cabinet but eventually had to get a coffee table with drop down front and back, so access at back for all the spaghetti junction of wires and plugs. We open the front flap to expose BT box, dvd player etc. It certainly isn't the perfect solution, though. DH still complains about having a tv on view. Next house I think we'll get a built in cupboard!
Other ideas I've seen for a smallish tv include 1920s/30s gents wardrobes, they are a nice height.

On the wall on a bracket that took 2 hours to drill holes for as the wall is so thick! Was an old fire place so was fire brick, my dad was not impressed 😂

Ours is on a coffee table. I don't like looking up to watch TV. My patents have theirs on a vintage g-plan TV unit.

We rented our house out for a few years while we worked away. Our tenant attached her tv to the chimney breast and didn't make good when she left (whole other thread). With the placement of the massive screwholes it looked like someone had been crucified!

Anyway, Victorian terrace:

Us - shelf in alcove
Next door - pine blanket box in alcove
Next door other side - pine cabinet in alcove

We have a 14" TV on a chest of drawers in our bedroom (don't know why, we never use it) - I can't believe this was our main TV for a few years Grin
