Home improvement without painting/papering?!

Our home looks a little worn, especially on the stairs where kids have clearly had their hands on the walls to steady themselves as they climb and such. Painting or papering isn’t feasible, so whilst I reckon that would be the obvious choice to really improve it I’m wondering if there is an alternative?

FWIW I’ve looked at things like wall stickers and hanging tapestry things and I swing between “That could be a nice distraction” and “That will just look like I’ve stuck a picture on top of grubby prints” Grin

I’m not expecting perfection but is there some potential here outside of paint or paper?

Could you do removable wallpaper? It sticks on and peels off

But the easiest thing by far will always be painting

Ooh @cloudtree removable wall paper sounds fascinating! Off to look…

Absolutely painting would make the most sense, but not going to happen soon so looking for options to see if there is something beyond just living with my grubby walls! (Can’t wash them either due to useless paint currently on walls)

Get a pack of Flash magic marker thingies. They are brilliant at getting marks/scuffs and finger prints off walls.
Put fairy lights up everywhere and use mini command hooks to hang them (no tools required)
It will look cosy and festive and no one will see the scuffs & marks Grin

@HumourReplacementTherapy I have some of those melamine sponge things (I think it’s melamine sponge…?), which I think is the same as Flash. I’ll check but either way I’ll try that, thanks! I like the idea of distracting with cosy lights Grin
