And have shunned traditional white/cream walls in your sitting room/home - could I hear about/see pictures of your alternative paint schemes?

This all sounds lovely and I’ve taken note of the schemes to look up, there’s so many good schemes to try with colour. Thank you all and I’ve loved seeing pics of what you’ve done.

We have F&B Pitch Blue up to and including the picture rail, and then F&B All white on the upper wall and ceiling. I love it, it looks great both in the day and in the evening too :)

@CeibaTree I don’t think I’ve seen that blue, will look it up.

It’s between green, blue and red at the moment.

We have a small sitting room at the front of the house, with a telly and some ratty old second hand sofas. It's fairly modern but very plain in there - white with a [brown] "Brave Ground" feature wall.

At the back is a long room which we have our dining table and a couple of nicer sofas in. Combi dining-drawing room. It has low ceilings, exposed beams and an enormous fireplace. The smaller walls at either end felt really "far away" when we moved in. So I painted them both in bottle green. (Dunelm). The dark colour draws the walls in and gives the room depth.

Everyone told me it would be madness but it's gorgeous and gets loads of compliments. 10/10 would recommend dark green in a period property.

I've also done our bedroom in burned terracotta. Painted the tiles in our en-suite to a very dark blue. And papered the downstairs loo in "Arthouse Animal" ...which I hardly ever regret.

I have a dark front hall. I've painted most of it pale primrose yellow, with one wall a very strong daffodil colour.

I have a church pew against that wall and a large watercolour above, so the strong yellow is broken up, but adds character and warmth.

Just my thoughts about red, and they’re obviously only my thoughts! I have red textured patterned curtains and cushion covers in a sitting room. I love it at this time of year, it looks great with all the decorations up and when it’s cold outside etc. But I don’t like it at all in the summer. It may be that I’ve just tore of it as we’ve had it for ten years now, but I wouldn’t have red again in a room that I spend lots of time in. Obviously feel free to dismiss!!

Hall is elephants breath/white with some navy accents.
Main bedroom is cream/pink/navy
