Other than locally and Etsy where else do you advertise, list and sell your items.

My niece has a garage full of furniture that she started to do in lockdown to keep her busy really - she is sooo good and now wants to take it seriously and sell her bits. She's set up a FB business page and IG but Ive told her she needs to much more than just that!

People mainly sell on Facebook and Instagram. Instagram has a shopping cart option. You have to work pretty hard to build an audience on these platforms AND be good at photography.

What she probably needs to do is learn more about marketing on these platforms in general and ensure her photos are absolutely tip top or she won't do well.

It's a competitive market because everyone and his dog thinks they can slap some chalk paint on Grandma's old dresser and make a mint but the problem is, most people can indeed do that to some extent.

She needs to make herself stand out and she needs to post regular content on both channels...daily or every other day I'd say.

Yes totally agree.

Just wondered if there were any other specialist sites to feature on

Not really, there's Etsy but it's problematic and people don't use it for furniture because of logistics. Because she is selling things that cost a lot to post, she's better of trying to get a spot in a local gallery or shop and showcasing the things there. Look in well-off towns.

My friend upcycles furniture, she sells/gets commissions mainly from Etsy and Instagram she works hard on her Instagram Yy staging the furniture for photos also very important, she does sometimes do vintage fairs/pop up shops.
Vininterior (sp?) is another selling site, she also has a website.

She also has built up good contacts with couriers, so her shipping costs are fairly reasonable.

It depends on what kind of pieces you're working with for selling. If you’re in a city, local flea markets or craft fairs are great selling spots—people love unique, one-of-a-kind furniture. You can also try Facebook Marketplace or eBay for a wider reach. As for who buys, many folks are into upcycled stuff these days—especially those looking for budget-friendly yet stylish pieces.
If you’re interested in decoupaging furniture, it's fun and can add a unique touch. Just grab some pretty paper or fabric, cut it out to your desired shape, and use how to decoupage glue to stick it on.
