Where sells nice 'middle class' bedding/tea towels?

I'm getting married soon, it's just small and we're not asking for gifts but some are asking what we'd like. We've lived together since we were students and have collected a random assortment of tea towels and various pillowcases/sheets/duvet covers that are mismatched cheap and not the nicest.

I'd love a voucher (or just money towards) for somewhere that sells nice bedding and tea towels. I grew up without much money so I've never bought these items anywhere other than supermarkets or primark so I want recommendations!

The only way I can think to describe what I want is 'nice middle class' like Next Home, or Debenhams? Nicer than supermarkets but not too expensive, eg I love the white company but it's too pricey.

Any suggestions?

Congratulations!

John Lewis has always been my go-to for towels. They wash well and have lasted ages.

I second John Lewis, we got some of their Egyptian cotton towels for a wedding gift and they are brilliant.

The white company for towels for me, and John Lewis for bedding.

DidgeDoolittle · 15/11/2021 18:17

Definitely John Lewis. Their bedding is lovely.

Sophie Allport’s my favourite for these sorts of things. Joule’s also has some nice stuff.

White company has beautiful bedding and towels... you won't go wrong with them absolutely lovely and last forever

DivingBoardInGuernsey · 15/11/2021 18:34

A broader range of prices and styles somewhere like Dunelm?
Or M&S?

TokyoSushi · 15/11/2021 18:34

John Lewis

We splashed out on John Lewis top range when we got hitched nearly 15 year ago. Bought bath sheets, hand towels. They're used all the time, on rotation and still look new and feel it too despite being white. An investment well worthwhile making as it feels like a luxury bath or shower every day

Habitat bedding lasts extremely well.

HappySantasaurus · 15/11/2021 18:38

John Lewis or M and S are good for bedding. I've actually found Dunelm towels to be better quality than both.

IglesiasPiggl · 15/11/2021 18:39

John Lewis is the bastion of middle class shopping!

Gladioli23 · 15/11/2021 18:41

I don't know if they sell tea towels but for bed and bathroom stuff bedeck sells lots of lovely things and also has good sales so you can get good value for things.

Otherwise I think John Lewis is a great option.

Bettybantz · 15/11/2021 18:42

John Lewis - you’ll always find something nice in there

Twinstudy · 15/11/2021 18:44

I'd go John Lewis. We had some towels from next, they weren't great to be honest. We've also had some fab bedding/towels/tea towels from Amazon, just search for the higher cotton count etc.

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 15/11/2021 18:46

John Lewis or Dunelm are great.

Megan2018 · 15/11/2021 18:48

John Lewis and Soak and Sleep
I do rate the higher end Dunelm too. But it’s definitely not a middle class shop.
The beauty of John Lewis voucher is that you could change your mind and buy something different like kitchenware or electricals so I’d go for that. JL is the classic wedding voucher choice.

H&M and Zara both stock lovely household linen.

Rainallnight · 15/11/2021 19:10

Habitat bed linen is lovely though as others have said, John Lewis is the epitome of middle class!

LittleBearPad · 15/11/2021 19:39

John Lewis for a good range of lovely options

waltzingparrot · 15/11/2021 20:17

TK Maxx

TrudyRuby · 15/11/2021 20:18

Habitat range at Sainsbury's.

scrivette · 15/11/2021 20:24

John Lewis or White Company.
Our John Lewis white towels are 15 years old and still in fantastic condition.

What is a middle class shop?
I'd have thought middle class people go to normal shops and can afford to buy higher end/better quality items in said shop. Pretty much as outlined above...
