Carpet - is it ruined?

Before I expand I am well aware there are worst problems to have however looking to see what others would do.

We had a new wool carpet laid in May and I've ruined it already by using the Dr Beckmann carpet cleaner on a few spots where my cat was sick. Kicking myself now as I didn't realise it bleach's wool.

Each area now has a white cast stain, luckily not a usual orange bleach stain so it's barely noticeable however I consider it ruined. 2 professional carpet cleaners have said they can't be removed because it's bleached so the only options are to have the area dyed back to the original colour or cut out the areas and replace with new carpet, both will be pricey and we are awaiting quotes.

My question is would you just forget out it and cover with a rug where possible or pay the price to have them repaired?

There are 6 areas, 2 I made worse by over cleaning. Family and friends who have been round haven't been able to spot them as the carpet is a light colour.

Thanks Smile p.s note to self, check the ingredients

It sounds like the lighter areas aren't particularly noticeable if your family and friends can't see where it's been bleached. Funnily enough, I use 3% hydrogen peroxide to get cat sick and other stains out of our woollen carpet and it generally works a treat. T

Pressed post accidentally, sorry.
I was going to add, maybe try a patch test with hydrogen peroxide...it could be just the thing the next time kitty is sick on the carpet. It hasn't bleached ours and it deodourises nicely too.
Sorry I've no advice for current problem areas.
Good luck

Well as it’s barely noticeable then I’d probably just get on with it and leave it. But if it’s something you will always notice, then only you can decide whether it’s worth it or not.

I would place some strategic rugs and see if that works for you before making a final desision.

My carpets never last long before they are ruined anyway so I would be inclined to save the cash in case it needs totally replacing down the line ( disclaimer I have too many yound kids who spill stuff)

It won't help you with fixing the bleach, but it might be worth considering buying a carpet cleaner, in my experience you can get anything out if you do it quickly, i.e. within 10-15 minutes.
