Kitchen blinds/curtains/ netting..?

It's not a biggie in the grand scheme of things but I'm really struggling with what to hang at my kitchen window in our new extension . The window's 174cm wide by 1m. We are overlooking a track and it's getting quite embarrassing now keep saying hello to all the walkers and dog walkers passing by my window.
We have white faux wooden blinds at the other window but the kitchen window is over the sink and with 5 kids in the house between the ages of 12-21 if I choose faux wooden blinds for the kitchen I think the tapes will get pretty manky pretty quickly Confused
DH wants curtains inside the window ShockConfused but I think it will be a bit tacky and Austrian chalet kind of look whereas the whole house is light wood/ white and charcoal grey..
The light comes in mainly at the top of the window too as we are surrounded by night shrubs so I don't want a pull up blind that stops the light coming in.
Any suggestions are very much appreciated! Attached a photo too so you get more of an idea.

How about window film? There's quite a few with a frosted effect which stops people looking in and they don't block much light.

I’ve seen narrow shelves put across windows with plants and glass items on them- could work here

Wooden shutters. You can adjust them so you have lots of light but nobody can see in from outside.

Also if most ot the light comes through at the top you can get split shutters that are adjustable top and bottom separately, so that the bottom will let in some light but nobody can see a thing and the top of the shutter can be left open so that it will let in pretty much the same amount of light as the window does now with no covering.

Timorous Beasties do some really gorgeous modern lace curtain fabric like this birch one. I’d have a panel made up out of one of them.

We get strong sunlight through our kitchen windows and we also look directly into our neighbours kitchen.

We ordered a plain white blackout roller blind from Blinds Direct. You measure the recess, send them the measurements and they make the blind and post out to you. It was £43 for a blind similar to the size of the OP’s windows.

About a tenth of the price of Hillary’s.

They might not be the most fashionable, but I'd get Venetian blinds! You can wind them up and down as far as you like, plus also tilt them so you maximise light, yet block out the views looking in!

We had these on a kitchen window instead of netting, when we lived with a similar busy view. Best thing, because I could angle them at just the right point to block people out! Grin

@BeBraveAndBeKind love the name btw.
Also think you're right. I can wipe the film down easily when Ribena finds its way up the window 🙈
I'm wary of blinds because the kids (4 boys and 1 girl) are quite hard handed and almost all the other blinds in the house are now broken..
@Hairyfriend
loved the birch fabric - it's gorgeous x

@Hairyfriend sorry I tagged you in the wrong post - yes love the blinds for choosing an angle - just worried about the kids pulling them the wrong way (and breaking again )
@VenusClapTrap ---- the birch lace is lovely ! What kind of panel? I'm so not crafty..

I have sheer blinds so I can see out but you can not see in. Like modern net curtains. Also night and day blinds are good for privacy but allow light in.
