Help..... What colour carpets??

I am putting new carpets in all my bedrooms, hall and stairs, I thought choosing paint colours was bad enough but this is far worse, painting a wall a different colour is far easier and cheaper than re carpeting 145m2 worth of carpets. The house is quite big and when it's finally done up will be at the top end of the market so needs to look good. I've been looking at Cormar and Victoria Carpets due to great reviews and both British companies. I had decided on the Cormar Inglewood Saxony in winter ice but now I'm worried it's too grey and could end up looking like it has a hint of blue, do you think grey has now had its time and is going out? I was ideally wanting a mushroom, taupe, greige colour but feel I am drowning in carpet sample and no closer to finding one. Then again anything is better than the current green ones.
Here's a picture of the attached of the one I was thinking of. Then it next to a more mushroom/greige colour. Unlike many I hate hoover stripes so want a carpet that won't show them. Any help or suggestions gratefully received. Thanks

The second one

Mantlemoose · 26/09/2021 18:29

2nd one.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 26/09/2021 18:32

I prefer the more beige version

excelledyourself · 26/09/2021 18:34

Can I ask what make/colour the second one is?

Journeynotdestination · 26/09/2021 18:35

Beige all the way. Grey will look dated very soon & it can look officey.

Slub · 26/09/2021 18:35

Prefer the original green

Jenjenn · 26/09/2021 18:43

The beige (greige?). That grey looks a little cheap to me (I am sure it's actually not). Are you keeping this wall color? The tonal greige will look classy and will be easier to furnish imo.

They are both Cormar carpets they have great reviews, lots of interior designers use them and are for heavy domestic use. The carpet on the left is their inglewood saxony in winter ice and second is their apollo comfort in mortar they do another in the apollo elite range called peanut I like. According to the man in the carpet shop the one of the left is more hardwearing and better quality, sadly the beige shades in that range are all too brown for me. It doesn't help my partner in colour blind so he can't really see what I'm showing him and my daughter wants pink 🙈😂

Like the grey.

Chewbecca · 26/09/2021 19:37

I prefer the taupe but would prefer an 80/20 carpet any day, I really dislike 100% poly... carpets. If you’re looking high end, you probably want better quality carpet than this.

Slub you are more then welcome to have the green carpet, it was in the house when we moved in think it's been down over 25 years, I hate it but has been great while my daughter has been a toddler as haven't worried about stains or marks. I just feel now when ever I paint a room it just doesn't look right and thinks it's because of the carpet.

I don't like either... sorry. Both look a bit cheap to me

TeddyBeans · 26/09/2021 20:38

Grey goes with everything. It would be a nightmare to keep the beige that colour

northernmonkeymummy · 26/09/2021 20:58

Chewbecca, I looked at wool as my Grandad was a sheep farmer so I always support British farmers where I can but we had them in our last house and with a small child they were a nightmare to keep clean, we never wore shoes in the house but still managed to get stains on we couldn't remove, then one I used a stain remover that took some of the colour out, also the amount of fluff off them was a nightmare I had to empty the hoover twice every time I hoovered and if I ever sat on them in anything dark coloured I started to resemble a sheep with bits of wool on me.

We spent 3 years looking to buy this house and must have viewed nearly 150 houses if not more in that time🙈 when I think back to them I can't remember ever really looking at the carpets other than the colour and maybe if they felt nice on my feet, I certainly didn't check if they were wool. We don't plan to sell for a couple of years still have the kitchen to extend, a garage to convert and a new garage to build, I know a lot of people who buy more expensive houses usually end up replacing carpets. We don't want to spend crazy amounts as we need so much and that's just the upstairs but at the same time I don't want it to look rubbish and regret my choice that I will be stuck with. 🤯

I have a warm cream Berber in the one room and a gold colour in the other, in the north facing rooms of our house, they bring warmth to the room, in a major yet not obvious way.

In the sunny south facing room I have a blue carpet, it carries the cool colour well, and the vibrant light in there works well with a definite colour.

I don’t know if that helps! Fwiw I prefer the warmer colour, I used to have pale grey carpets though, and liked them at the time, though I prefer the creamier tones these days.

Chewbecca · 26/09/2021 21:43

Fair enough! It’s 80/20 I favour but you’re right, most people wouldn’t notice.

Ozberry · 26/09/2021 21:47

Out of the two aid fo for the one on the right. The grey is a bit cold and will date quicker.
I prefer a loop pile personally though, with a bit of texture

GU24Mum · 28/09/2021 22:34

We put Cormar on the landing and some of the bedrooms and it's dreadful! The backing lifts up if you need to do any sort of cleaning with water and the pile quickly went from lovely and fluffy to flat and hard to hoover.
