Hi everyone!
Please suggest some wall art ideas for our dining room. The wall is painted green
(www.farrow-ball.com/paint-colours/green-smoke)
Looking for framed art / prints that are contemporary and modern, not very expensive and something that will brighten the room.
Looking for ideas on type of art and websites to purchase from.

Thanks in advance

Art is such a personal thing isn't it? What one person adores, another thinks is terrible. However, here are some ideas for you...

Surely it depends on what you enjoy looking at? Look on places like Instagram and buy work from working artists that you like and will enjoy having on your walls, rather than generic prints from places like Dunelm.

Thank you @FortunesFave @daisyjgrey yes art is personal... but I am not able to picture what I'll like on that wall, so needed some ideas to see what I will like. I'll check out the links. Instagram is a good idea...I'll browse for any local artist that I might like. Thanks again!

Etsy is good if you want something inexpensive - they have any and all sorts of styles, prints and originals. Get them framed nicely at a local framers and you can achieve great results. If you want to spend a bit more look on Artsy, which has lots of original works in a wide range of prices. Alternatively try the auction sites and make a temporary hobby of it.

I have this etsy.me/2zqvUBj and the flamingo print in one of my rooms (it's pale green though).

Only thing with Etsy is that you need to make sure it's a physical print. Some of them are digital downloads and it can be a hassle getting them printed.

Warhol's soup cans
Dali's Autumnal Cannibalism
a Last Supper
Still Life with Cherries, Strawberries and Gooseberries by Louise Moillon - not modern but looks fresh

I would look at vintage food/drink prints-especially the French/Italian ones. The artwork is quite charming and the 30s/50s were a good age.

Thank you all for your suggestions. Etsy is a great shout...I will do a proper search there. Love the print you shared @MilduraS. Will look for similar ones but may be a lighter colour
Will check Artsy too... have a busy next couple
Of days now 😊

Or buy a big canvas and paint your own? You could use some of the background wall colour in it.

I'm a landscape photographer so tend to prefer landscape or wildlife wall art.

I have however written a few blog posts in regards to selecting wall art for your home covering an array of different styles and genres which you might find informative.

You can see them at scoellphotography.co.uk/pages/photos-to-wall-art-guide-framing-pictures-and-hanging-wall-decorations

I'm collecting mid century plates to put on my walls.

We had green smoke in our living room - fantastic colour and would have it again (though a pig to paint). For art we kept to black and white line/simple art and black frames like the ones on desenio shared above.

That way we didn’t need to match colours and worry about particular shades etc. contrast in the room came from soft furnishing instead so I can change it up. To be honest the star of the show was the colour on the walls as it is such a strong shade. Though you may be braver than me Grin

(Also the white/light breaks up the wall of green if that’s what you mean by brightening the room)

I've started buying second hand vintage oil paintings. I just don't get the same joy from prints. That's the key really, what lights up your day and gives you joy to look at it - everyone's taste is different.
