1930’s doors help

Have recently moved into a 1930’s property and wanting to sympathetically decorate the property so have kept the original doors. We had them dipped as they had been over painted and as you can see they are back to the original wood.
We like the lighter colour of the original wood but upon waxing them with a natural Matt interior wax they have gone really dark and you can’t see the actual wood pattern any longer.
Any ideas on how to keep them lighter as they do need something on them we feel ?

Dampen the end of your finger, put dampness on bare wood. The colour change you see is the inevitable colour change you're going to get when you apply any finish to the door. If your doors have turned darker than that, the darker colour is due to the product you've used. You should defo still be able to see the wood pattern, a good product often brings it out more. Sounds like there's colour in the product you've used.
The door stripper I use , if they also refinish, uses Briwax, which may be the best way of keeping the colour as pale as possible. I dislike it, because firstly, it should not be inhaled, so you should only apply it outdoors (fine once door has dried), and secondly, if liquid gets spilt on door, it will leave a water mark.
Just done the doors in a thirties house, I would have preferred a paler look, but like many of that period, it's British Columbian pine, which is naturally fairly dark. I used Osmo hard wax oil, because it's so easy to apply. Doors are now darker, but have amazing almost zebra stripe wood markings.

Only just seen pics, yeah that looks like BC pine, it's never going to look like a pale pine stripped door.

Thank you for your message and your explanation at least I know I can’t achieve the colour I was hoping for. Although it’s the colour I was hoping for it’s mikes better than the over painted doors and chipped doors that we had when we bought Smile

There’s an Osmo product that gives a flat, mat finish, that hardly changes the colour of the wood. We used it on solid oak floorboards and it’s been very durable (teen boy room), so would work well on a door. Obviously still depends on what colour the original wood is though.

Those doors look beautiful, how lovely to take them back to their original look.
