Decor scheme ‘in a box’

I’m pretty clueless when it comes to interior design by my own admission.

I search Pinterest etc I look for inspiration.. often finding a look I like but then not being able to find the specifics to ‘recreate’ closely enough. Honestly, if given an inch of my own interpretation it all goes wrong..

Is there a product out there whereby someone has matched a paint or two, a wallpaper and a few fabrics for example? So I could look for say a nice relaxing scheme for a bed room or something a bit more fun for a home office and bam, I know what works together??

I know an interior designer could do this in a bespoke manner for a space, and I’d LOVE that to be an option for us, but financially, it’s just not. So is there a half way house out there? An off the peg interior design as it were??

(Or should I patent this idea sharpish… oh wait, I have no skill to make that happen..!)

look at the websites / catalogues for some of the big paint or wall paper companies (Farrow & Ball / Sanderson etc). The photos will tell you what paint / paper / fabric they use.

similarly, buy the interior design mags (e.g. Ideal Home / Living etc) and they will give details of everything that was used in a particular photo.

Watching and bumping as I have the same problem. I waste weeks on dozens of tester paint pots and it still quite often doesn't look great once we start painting.

And picking matching light fittings (which often end up not matching) can be months of pain...

I need saving from myself!

There is a newish thing I've been reading about called The Expert. You book an hour on zoom ( I might be wrong here - but it's. a digital meeting anyway ) with an interior designer/garden designer.

And they run through your queries, colour schemes, floor plans , help with choosing lfixtures , furniture etc or whatever you want

It's at The Expert.com. Spaces book up quickly but also get added regularly. It sounds perfect for someone who needs to be set in the right direction but couldn't necessarily afford or want an interior designer on a more formal basis.

I follow Imperfect Interiors and also Rebecca Wakefield on Instagram and they are both on it. Both fabulous designers. They both say it's amazing what you can get done in an hour.

Maybe that sort of input could help you.

There was a similar thread on the Property board recently and I recommend on there looking at one of the companies now who do e-design services. There was an article in the Telegraph on them at the same time, which also referenced the Expert website (I am a big fan too of the designers @sunglassesonthetable mentions above)
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/interiors/home/bite-sized-makeovers-booming/ (you need a login but think it's free to view)

I’ve never heard of The Expert but could be perfect for me!
Thanks so much all, I’m off to google that now- magnolia be gone!
