pale pink paint suggestions...

Mumsnet wisdom needed please...I am being driven mad by the search for a pale pink paint for a North Facing Room. Everything seems to be coming up too dark and I’m stumped. Have tried what seems like dozens of samples including my usual go-to of F&B Great White which looks a definite dark grey in this particular room. Anything I am missing? I just want a white with a hint of pink but when I tried Dulux Blossom White it was a very in your face pink with the lighting in that room.

All suggestions gratefully received!

Dulux pink skies is a very pale pink. Unless they see it against white, people think it is white.
I used it in a friend's bedroom

@Puddlelane123
Stacey Solomon?..... is that you??? 😂
Saw her trying pink paints on her Insta 😂👋🏼

Middleton pink? We’ve got it in a north facing bedroom and it’s lovely and pretty and fresh.

Elle by Crown do a lovely pink paint - stitch in time. It's very similar to the pics above. I have it in a north facing room which can be really dark and it works brilliantly. It's also got that very Matt, almost chalky texture which is lovely.

Lulu1919 · 08/07/2021 10:55

I've just used blush pink Dulux
Try a tester as the pic in the tin is far darker than it actually is

im2sad · 08/07/2021 10:56

Middleton pink is lovely, not sure how it looks in north facing though as we had it in a south facing room.

LunaTheCat · 08/07/2021 11:02

As long as you are not looking for matching Aga you will be fine...

SirSamuelVimes · 08/07/2021 12:16

Quite like the idea of a pale pink aga... Probably not the reality through.

Puddlelane123 · 08/07/2021 13:26

Ha ha yes the aga thread was peak mumsnet!
Alas I’m not Stacey Solomon as I’d love her garden.

Thanks all for the great suggestions - I feel an order for more tester pots coming on...

For a N facing room I would suggest getting a warmer (peachier) pink and with more colour than you might think, as it will be cooler and greyer in the room

AuntyFungal · 08/07/2021 13:40

Try Little Green and Paint & Paper Library.

They both do graduations of the same colour.
LG - China Clay
P&PL - Marble

Or Mylands (marble emulsion). Lovely depth to their colours.

I do recommend buying thick paper and painting it with the sample (as large as you can) & sticking it up in different areas of the room at different times of the day. It can make a real difference to how you see the colour.

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/07/2021 16:41

We couldn’t find one that didn’t go either grey-purple or pinky-lilac so we used pink ground instead.

It’s the north light, it just annihilates certain pigments.

We ruled out calamine, great white, cinder Rose & peignoir. They all just looked wrong.

Mylands emulsion is very scrubbable, I want to use it in our kitchen.

minipie · 08/07/2021 18:22

Yes Pink Ground is exactly the sort of thing that would work

AnnaSW1 · 08/07/2021 18:40

Dulux satin bow

Puddlelane123 · 08/07/2021 20:05

I’m so grateful for all your advice - lots of great suggestions and new shades I hadn’t considered. Will report back!

F & B Pink Ground? It's a lovely warm blush pink.

Fortyfifty · 08/07/2021 20:11

Definitely try f&b pink ground. Teen DDs room is painted in that colour and I wish my bedroom was too. It's dreamy - not sweet or sickly at all. Almost vintage and timeless.

notveryrelaxed · 08/07/2021 20:13

Lick pink 02 is a lovely shade and looks peachy in some lights and pinker in others, we d had it all through the hall

goldpendant · 08/07/2021 20:46

Another vote for pink ground, it's beautiful and I think would work really well in that room OP.

minipie · 08/07/2021 20:57

If you look up Pink Ground on the e-paint website you can find Dulux colours that are similar

Tightwad2020 · 10/07/2021 15:13

Pink Ground is nice, but OP said she wanted hint of pink - I think PG is pretty strong. I'd second previous suggestion of Little Greene China Clay - 1/Light is very light, Mid slightly deeper, but still in the 'hint of' territory.

I feel you, OP, on the multiple sample pots. I have a shameful number, as I find 'getting to yes' on these decisions very hard work. Lockdown has made the process harder, methinks - the stakes seem higher when you're in the house all day (and spend too much time on decorating threads and blogs...).

Good luck!

Thefirsttime · 13/07/2021 16:26

Dulux jasmine blush. It is very similar to little greene China clay light.

I actually posted a thread on the same thing a few months ago. The light in the room can really affect how the colour looks so you do need to try some colours out in the room. In a north facing room, colours often look darker and bluer so you don’t want anything too grey or it’ll look purple/bluish and you probably need a lighter shade than you think you want.
