Hi! Just about to embark on thinking about redoing our kitchen. It’s a reasonable size but somehow currently vastly impractical- feels like there’s no storage, etc. Where to begin??

Which suppliers do you recommend and what pitfalls do I need to look out for? I don’t want to go crazy price-wise as we’ll likely be moving in a few years, but I am so fed up with this room. I’ll also check out the “favourite/ least-favourite thing in a kitchen” threads.

Hi, if you do a search you will find lots of similar threads Smile

A lot of people recommend DIY Kitchens. They have an online planner and are reasonably priced and quality is meant to be very good. It's online so you buy the units from them and then would need to source your own kitchen fitter and other contractors etc.

@Goostacean we used DIY kitchens about 5 years ago. At the time, you could visit the showroom and we could see the quality of their products. We are still very happy with it. There are lots of finished kitchens on their site for you to look at for ideas too.

We used Karen from OnePlan and she did a fantastic plan, using the DIY kitchen units we had chosen. She can be found on houzz. www.houzz.co.uk/pro/oneplan/oneplan

Our fitter and builder both said they units were better than ££££££ ones they had fitted/seen.

i have a DIY kitchen and very impressed with it, we got a plan from wickes, got them to measure and do a plan and qoute for us, then compared the same kitchen on DIY and wickes were £2000 dearer, yes you have to do the basic plan on their online planner yourself but its not difficult to do we live near enough to the showroom so we went down there to look at what the units look like in reality,

we originally went to look at pale grey matt finish and fell in love with pale blue gloss acrylic wrapped

and once you get to actually ordering the kitchen you submit the order then a consultant from DIY goes through it and tweeks it as in suggests items you havent put in or takes out things that are not neccessary and gets your approval before the final order goes in we got the worktops and sink from them but not appliances as its better choice to go elsewhere
