Faux ( silk ) flowers - best brand?

Hi all!

I am getting married in November this year and thought that possibly silk flowers may be a good option for the table decor. It's a very small country house and only 8 guests. The venue is at the opposite end of the country to me so it seems a pity to pay for lovely flowers and then leave then the next day. Silk flowers I can keep with me forever and have the memories.
Obviously, I only want them if they are going to look great.....so I've turned to Mumsnet.
Any recommendations?
Budget is no problem, with such a small wedding we are spending more on other things.

Thank you so much!

I bought these as a gift for a friend during lockdown and they're beautiful and excellent quality. I would definitely recommend this company.

@MapleMay11 thank you! They were on my list but I didn't know anyone who had purchased from them.

I really like bloom Uk, and the products are lovely. I have several of their arrangements,

bilbodog · 26/05/2021 23:13

@ScottishNewbie I immediately thought of those when I read your post. They would stunning in a country house. Silk flowers are a lovely idea.

wearetheweirdosmr · 26/05/2021 23:35

Dunelm do nice ones, so do IKEA but the local garden centre had the best selection

ScottishNewbie · 27/05/2021 10:46

Thank you, everyone! You've made me feel really happy about my decision. I was expecting people to think silk flowers were a silly idea, but you can get such lovely ones nowadays.

I have some from Oka which I love, at the moment they are sitting between 3 bouquets of real flowers and they still look great

ScottishNewbie · 27/05/2021 15:35

@Moirarose2021 oooh I haven't looked at OKA. thank you!
Maybe I should order one stem from each place of the same type of flower to do a direct comparison.....
I shall report back with my findings Grin

Wow those fox flowers ones look nice but... £455???!!! I know the OP said budget wasn’t a problem but 8 lots of those would be over £3.5K!

KikiniBamalam · 27/05/2021 15:45

Oka or Peonie do fab ones

hennybeans · 27/05/2021 15:57

I had silk flowers at my wedding. I really, really wanted blue hydrangeas but got married in the wrong time of year. I think they looked nice, if I do say so myself! If I had to do it over, I would get real greenery to put in with the silk flowers and around the tables.

Nanasueathome · 27/05/2021 16:01

Peony are good
They can be purchased from qvc or do have I store options
They have their workshop and outlet fairly close to where I live and they have fabulous one off options there too

BungleandGeorge · 27/05/2021 16:07

Could you get real flowers in an arrangement that the guests could take away? The better silk ones are extremely expensive! Or maybe as someone suggested use proper greenery and a few silk flowers. Depends how many arrangements you need? Is it just one table?

ScottishNewbie · 27/05/2021 18:10

Thank you all so much for your suggestions!
I think I'm going to do individual stems in smaller vases with real greenery.
The big bouquets are quite expensive, and although I'm not overly worried about the cost, it's more that I would then have massive bouquets to place around my house.
I'm thinking well chosen, vibrant stems could look lovely in a rustic table arrangement, and then I could put them all together in a bunch to take home.
The ceremony is being held in the same room as the reception dinner, so the decorations are being re used throughout the day. (Think cosy country house, 6 guests etc). I like the look of 3-5 stems per vase, rather than enormous bunches. Going for a burgundy/rich red theme as it's November.

@BungleandGeorge it's just the one table, a rectangle with the 8 of us. I was envisioning lots of real greenery, lovely silk flowers and then loads of candles scattered throughout. I'm using freeze dried petals for the aisle

🤦‍♀️ sorry I thought you’d said 8 tables not 8 guests!

reprehensibleme · 28/05/2021 09:31

DEpending where you are, Country Baskets does a huge variety of silk flowers (they're a wholesaler but members of the public can buy from them, and they supply event companies) I don't usually like fake flowers but bought some hydrangeas from them and they are really lovely.

No suggestions as I got married 10 years ago but I just wanted to say it’s a great idea. I had silk flowers as I got married over the Xmas break making flowers tricky. I love the fact that my wedding bouquet looks as good now as it did 10 years ago and sits in a vase in my dining room. Both mothers cherish their table decorations. Top tip, dust them with a hairdryer on a low setting.

BrilliantBetty · 30/05/2021 09:47

Recently spent £80 on a faux bouquet from Dunelm. Only advice is.. try and see them in real life, not just online, before you spend an awful lot.

I had assumed for £80 these would be gorgeously realistic. They are ok, quite nice, the colours are not quite as I thought from the pictures. If they were wedding flowers I'd probably be disappointed.

Love your idea of using real foliage to add that natural green and lovely real texture and then having one nice bunch of stems to take home and keep.

ScottishNewbie · 30/05/2021 11:50

Thank you all for your lovely helpful comments! I am going to order one stem from each website and compare.
Thanks again!
