Calia table durability (John Lewis)

Does anyone have the Calia table from John Lewis? I’m wondering how stain resistant it is, especially for curry and red wine! Any reviews greatly appreciated Smile

We’re looking at the oak colour rather than the dark version.

Wood is naturally somewhat porous and prone to damage. Not so bad if you don't mind using mats all the time. As it's a fixed table (not extending), you could have a thick piece of glass cut to completely cover the top do no danger of stains but you can still see the wood. You make a paper template and take it to a local glass merchant shop.

Really really porous and seemingly untreated. Ours had a ring after one glass was left on it. A reviewer suggested treating it first so we’ve given it a couple of costs of satin varnish. Will still use coasters.

Just realised I have the coffee table though

It needs to be oiled regularly.

I have the coffee table. The wood is the same as the dining table. I've never had an item of furniture that marks so easily. It's not fit for purpose as is. You'd need to put a finish on it yourself before using it. I'm going to sand mine back and put a clear varnish on it.

So pleased to see this. We’ve debated the calia for a while but I’d read mixed reviews. We still have young children (and DH is pretty clumsy) so I don’t think this is the table for us!
