Should I Go For A Handless Kitchen?

Hi All,

Were finally in the process of getting a new kitchen fitted and I just can't decide on whether to get a handless or to get handles. Our kitchen is very very small (2 meters by 2 meters) and I like the sleek look of no handles and it also means that theres no clashing of the handles in the corner, but are they just a dirt trap and tricky to open?
I've found the kitchen I love and finally decided on a colour this is just the last thing I'm stuck on. The kitchen company have been amazing and very patient with me and given me pros and cons of both. Does anyone have a handless kitchen and can anyone advise? I've chosen the Lucente in gloss white if anyone wants to take look at on their page (tkckitchens.co.uk) please let me know so I can get it order before we spend the money on something else! xXx

I love my handless doors! The fridge took some getting used to at first as it’s full size so a bit heavy but other than that it’s perfect. My other tip if you can is to go for large drawers as an alternative to all cupboards. They really are a game changer!

Thank you so much snarkybag Ive just had a look on their website are they called pan drawers?

Yes that’s right I have four large ones and one small one. I keep all the plates, bowls etc in one so much easier for grabbing what you need. One of them is the drawer of doom as it keeps all the Tupperware, drinking bottles but still easier to root through than cupboards

Agree with above. I have more pan drawers and they are ace. Also have handleless and v happy with it. Have to wipe them down occasionally but a lot easier given they are flat!

Yes to pan drawers they are so much better than cupboards.

Only downside about handleless doors is that you need to clean them most days due to greasy finger prints. But I found I did the same anyway on doors with handles as the doors still get fingerprints all over them. If anything they’re easier to clean as you don’t have to go around the handles. I have a matt kitchen but I think finger prints are even worse on gloss.

Toilenstripes · 10/05/2021 21:57

I love mine, also have pan drawers.

Bancha · 10/05/2021 21:58

Also I’ve never once caught my fingers.

We have electric drawers and cupboards. Basically you push them lightly and they open.
Very practical and sleek looking.

I love mine without handles. Also have pan drawers

MyGrassIsBrowner · 10/05/2021 22:13

Handleless is a game changer! We have a small kitchen and it looks so sleek. Ace now we have a 1 year old that explores everything she can get her hands on! No chance of trapped fingers! Would totally recommend x

brizzlewizzle · 10/05/2021 22:25

Yes to no handles and as many pan drawers are you can fit in. Get wet and dry ecloths for the hand prints - they need wiping every day but the cloths make it v easy

Karwomannghia · 10/05/2021 22:36

Really pleased with mine, they work well in a big or small space and stop it looking too busy and no handles to date. I would have had my whole kitchen as drawers but only managed one set; the rest is cooker, sink, dishwasher, wm and corners!

Fastforwardtospring · 10/05/2021 22:36

We have true handleless and lots of pan drawers, there’s no groove, you either open from the bottom or top of the drawer, probably not explaining very well........ they do get the odd finger hand marks but so easy to wipe down.

AnnaMagnani · 10/05/2021 22:38

If your kitchen is small you need handleless pans!

I have stacking pans with one detachable handle which I stick on whenever I need a handle. All the pans fit in less than half a pan drawer.

Compared to before when they were piled up all over the place.

n0shy · 11/05/2021 20:33

Thank you so much! I've order it today Smile and added pan drawers, I'm sure one of which will turn into the draw of doom where everything random ends up lol

@LittleOverWhelmed I would constantly catch my fingertips and break my nails on the handleless in our last home. I would never choose it myself! They were all pan drawers, so perhaps it was the weight, but I'd curse them daily!

Worst case scenario though can you put handles on them later if you don't like handless?

Notonthestairs · 15/05/2021 16:43

We have handless - it took a few weeks to get used to but I don't notice it at all now. I like short fingernails though!

inappropriateraspberry · 15/05/2021 16:46

We have a kitchen like that - so much easier to wipe the groove out than clean sticky, grubby handles. Also second pan drawers, we have loads and I wish we'd got more! Better than rummaging at the back of a cupboard.

JFCO · 15/05/2021 17:16

When we did our kitchen, chose hand-less cupboards with the view we can put handles if it became too annoying. 7 years in, I still love my hand-less cupboards and pan drawers.

BlankieBops · 16/05/2021 09:44

I love a handle but for a small kitchen you’d gain valuable space by not having them 😊

n0shy · 16/05/2021 12:21

Thank you soooooooo much!
