Politics aside, let's leave unmentioned, what do people think of the Lulu Lyttle sitting room? I dislike it a lot.

Have you got a link? I didn't think any pictures had been released yet - all the pics I've seen have been pictures of other work by the interior designer they used.

No, sorry, that's the one I mean, the migraine-inducing chintz nightmare made out of my aunt's old curtains. I hope the actual room looks a bit less, er, well less.

I appreciate it but couldn't personally live with it. I also don't think it is a style suited to a flat in Central London. Politics aside.

I confess I hadn't paid enough attention to this and thought that was the Downing St room. It would look odd in that building so maybe they've gone for something more restrained.

Very expensive granny chic and an exercise in desperately keeping up? All those candles must be one of those 'exclusive' scents, like Les Nouveaux Vêtements de l'Empereur (a nostalgic and aspirational scent reminiscent of incense and sunlight on the cedar wood floors of Versailles; almost too intoxicating for small spaces but usefully erases the stench of the common people) or maybe BurningMoney (powdery notes of ash and ink give way to the lingering stench of privilege: perfect for disguising household odours, especially those emanating from dogs and babies).

Why even contemplate an expensive refurb of a flat that they might be moving from in 3 years' time.

Well if you like living in a tart's boudoir/parlour you would be pleased.

£200,000 would buy a few family homes in some parts of the country.

It’s exactly the sort of decor that a certain type of aspirational 30 year old would choose if spending someone else’s money.

Less at this rate.

I hate it, truthfully.

And the sheer contempt, in a pandemic.
