Cheap kitchen ideas

Loooing for inspiration and cheap ideas for a kitchen. Looked on wren and for appliances and cupboards (12) it’s circa 3k so would need fitting and tiling on top as well as an electrician for the appliances. Any ideas where people have done it themselves in regard to fitting etc or cheap ideas? Looking at keeping the same layout.

Cheapest kitchens are the budget ones from Wickes. Depends how confident you are with DIY to do bits your self . You could pull the old one out.

A lot of people rave about DIY Kitchens, I think the units come prebuilt so a lot easier to fit.

That or a second hand/ex display kitchen

I love an IKEA kitchen, really good value, and they have a couple of really nice new designs for the doors.

If you're keeping the same layout though do you need to replace the whole kitchen? Could you get away with new doors/ worktop/ appliances/ tiles? That would save you a packet.

The issue is the carcasses need replacing. Some are new but maybe only 3 out of 12. So because it’s the same layout I would like to replace the sink, integrated cooker and hood, cupboards and doors as well as the worktop. Then need tiling but that’s minimal on top. Trying to figure out if it’s doable ourselves I terms of ripping out then getting a joiner to fit. Ideally instead of a perused one I think need to get the same layout from a shop.

IKEA. We bought 6 cupboards ( all with drawers and inserts), doors, worktop, hob, sink and all trims and it was £1000. We added oven, dishwasher and fridge/ freezer from elsewhere. The doors weren’t the cheapest ones either.

Oh and the IKEA cupboards are really easy to put together yourself, once you have don’t one, they are all the same. We attached all to wall easily enough.
So you could save money by putting them all together, then just getting tradespeople in to cut worktop holes for sink/ hob if your not confident and someone to connect gas and plumbing part.

That’s great. Did IKEA do any measuring at all? Or did you just order

@User12340987 - we measured at home. It’s a fairly simple galley type. Then we took into store and used the IKEA planner person who checked the dimensions and made sure we had all the right brackets, end pieces, kick boards etc. Ie if the cupboards came to 3m long they suggested a 5cm overhang so a 305cm worktop was ordered.
It took about a month to arrive due to the custom worktop ( this was 2019 so pre Covid though)

That’s brilliant thanks so much. I think that’s the way to go as we are replacing and they are standard sizes but it’s the ‘bits’ a was a bit concerned with.

You can in normal times make an appointment with a kitchen designer at IKEA and I think they are doing online appointments at the moment.

I went to one with my Mam and the bloke was completely amazing.

Yes it was the IKEA kitchen planner we used. We used the one online first, so we printed out the plans and list of all components so then the planner just went from there. Was faster that way as we then had sorted the main plan ourselves at home at leisure.

We used Diy kitchens, it was fab really can't fault them. Good prices and really good quality kitchen. I initially looked at ikea but I just couldn't get on with the planner, Diy's planner I found a lot better and spent many a nights playing around on it
You have to measure up yourself which seems abit daunting but it's not that bad
