If you had to choose only 3 Little Greene testers

For a hall and landing, which 3 LG testers would you go for? Downstairs is south facing with light, upstairs light from skylight only or when another north facing room door is open. I like pale and warm, to go with wooden doors. One section is full height ground floor to ceiling. I need to restrict how many testers I buy! Thank you.

The creative director of Little Greene was on The Great Indoors podcast on 25 March. She mentioned French Grey, Shirting and, er, a couple of others as super-flexible and popular whites/neutrals. One of these - it may have been French Grey - she said worked well in different aspects because of the variety of warm and cool pigments. Have a listen - it's a good podcast all round.

Oooh yes - French Grey (the pale version) for my hallway, Shirting for the lounge and Rusling for our bedroom.

If I had a house with a rendered exterior I would be wanting to try Wood Ash.

Thank you! I'll have a listen to that @Tightwad2020, thank you. At the moment I have Dulux Natural Calico and Timeless on the ceiling, but it sometimes looks just dull, and also looks different on all the walls. I had thought I needed pale creams and am a bit scared to try grey tones, as I once used white that had a greyish/blue tinge that always looked cold, but then I'm also keen to experiment. Might stretch to a couple extra tester pots!

Just found the link from the blog - you can navigate to the podcast from there. I've been encouraged to try more colour and pattern (steady!) by this blog/podcast. I'm never going to be a maximalist, but it has helped me move beyond my safe zone. As well as confirm me in my choices of cool/serene/warm neutrals too!

I've listened to it @Tightwad2020 and it's helped a lot, thanks again, I've just about narrowed things down. I would never have considered french grey but that will be one of the testers!

You're welcome. Now, if anyone has any experience of Little Greene's China Clay Light and Mid, I"d love to know...I've got these in mind for the next project.

I love Portland Stone, it comes in a couple of shades (Light/Deep I think) and is a great neutral.

toddlerchaos · 06/04/2021 19:57

I loved slaked lime mid and deep

Interested to know what colours you went for in the end. Thanks. X

I would try Julie’s Dream, aquamarine mid and celestial blue
