...and will you be needing a seat for your toilet?

I've been looking at new toilets for our bathroom and can't quite believe the price of toilet seats.
You choose a toilet you like the look of and then discover you have to choose the option of a toilet seat which adds at least £40 and in some cases another £90 to the price!
Mirrored bathroom cabinet with lights, another £300!... electric heated towel rail, another £200 for an ugly radiator...oh hang on, you'll need an element for that, that will be another £75.
I know you can save money if you shop around and buy wisely, but some of these things seem so overpriced for what they actually are.

We had an ordinary radiator when we had to refurbish the bathroom I asked the plumber who was pricing up if we could change it to a towel rail radiator as the bathroom was small. We now have a tall heated radiator. It is so much better so I would say it is worth the money.

He was chuffed to bits to get us a toilet for just under £30 but thought he would ask us about the plain white toilet seat as it was £22. The toilet was in the bargain corner and when the shop assistant lifted it for him said you may as well have the seat. Free! It was for the out house so we got a loo and seat for £28:99.
The plumber could have added money on but he was so honest. We have given him another job and so has our son. It is great to find an honest, hard working plumber.

Shop around and try haggling.

There’s plenty of home accounts on Instagram which show off their stunning renovations on a budget. You’re right though, it all adds up

Wickes. You can get a whole toilet for £80.

I renovate houses and have never paid that much for a toilet seat and the radiators are like £50, valves are about £15/pair. Check out Amazon there's plenty of good deals. Bathstore.com too.

Thanks for the advice. I think you can get into the habit of just throwing money at everyone when you're doing a project, and some people take advantage of this.
We're an all electric house, so will probably end up putting in a cheap panel heater.
