Area vs house.

I am divorced and will be renting a property for myself and my little one.

Want to stay close to my support network. Have heard through word of mouth there is a house going to be up for rent by summer... it's near support network and looks a nice potential home.
But the road it's on is not my favourite with a shop, takeaways opposite. Just a bit rough around the edges.
It is also in catchment area of a good little school.

Has anyone else had experience of having to chose house over the area and been pleasantly surprised?

I grew up in quite a rough area myself and often felt quite intimidated, so just a bit torn what's the best thing to do. Smile

I suppose I need to think this could be a good option for now whilst we get on our feet. Don't need to stay forever and would be lucky to a have a home Biscuit

Sounds like a good option to me.

You could look at as though there are always people around and cameras (shops have CCTV) so could be safer than s quiet more unobserved house.

Sounds like a great rental option: near your support network. A risk but if it doesn’t suit, you can move on.

When we moved from our first flat to a house we moved from a lovely quiet cul-de-sac with open views at the back to potentially the “worst” road in town, directly opposite the shops & a bench of suspicious activity. Our town is still a very nice place, and we preferred the “worst” road here to moving to a bigger more affordable town. We could never have afforded a 3 bed house elsewhere in the town at that point.

We lived there for 8 years while our DSs were little & they went to the very good primary school a short walk away. It served us well. Hopefully you will find the same.
