dining bench with back question

If anyone has a dining bench with a back, like the one in the picture, can I ask you about tucking it in?!

My provision plan is to have a bench like this along a wall with the table next to it so people just slide in and out. I assume this bench won't really move and get tucked in, but wasn't sure how much space to leave. Bench depth minus about 10cm?

Then I was thinking about also having a bench on the other side. But do people tuck these in at the end of the meal or are they a bit bulky for that and tend to stay kept away from the table?

I've found a pedestal table so legs shouldn't be an issue.

Bit tight of space but don't want things to feel cramped so trying to plan to the nearest cm! Any experience of dining benches with backs would be great. Thank you!

I can’t help I was considering the same idea, and want to know this too! Not sure how easy sliding in and out would be though, which put me off.

I think it makes it difficult to get in and out. I would prefer shallow chairs to a bench.

In my last house we built in a dining bench which didn't move at all so you had to do a lot of sliding the table in and out rather than the dining bench. Everyone absolutely loved it though as it was really comfy and you could squeeze extra guests onto it (when you were still allowed guests!)

The thing to watch out for is where your table legs are in relation to the bench. Because ours was fixed we bought a table that had a top that over hung the legs by 10cm each side. That might be easier for yours as well so you don't have a clash of legs.
