It's not a particularly light room - but not really dingy. It looks out on to greenery. I'd like a definite colour.

There are many shades of green. Please be more specific.

In theory, nothing wrong with a green accent wall.

toolazytothinkofausername · 12/01/2021 16:24

Looks nice :)

Yes! Choose a medium or dark shade if you are feeling bold. It will make your room feel really cosy.

SpikeTheDragon · 12/01/2021 16:36

I have a north-west facing bedroom in green. I like it, but then I like the colour green! Reminds me of being out in the countryside. We added picture rail with white above to break it up.

TheDuchessOfAquitaine · 12/01/2021 16:42

We’re north east facing with a sort of duck egg blue almost green paint. We get lots of sun in the morning in the summer but most of the year it’s in the shade but I love it. Match with cream furniture and cream carpet...lovely if you get the right shade.

Toilenstripes · 12/01/2021 16:43

Use an olive green as it has a warm undertone.

colette100 · 12/01/2021 22:27

Hardwick White - too dark for you? Too greyed?

Greens from different Hue Families,,,,

BlackDogBlues · 13/01/2021 14:05

@colette100 thanks for that Hardwick looks quite grey to me. I live in the north west and its quite grey enough as it is without my wanting any more grey in the house.

I'm conscious that green can be quite a cold colour so I want to try and keep it warm.

Olive green with brass fixtures & fittings can look warm

We've just gone green in our new dining room (garage conversion). I plumped for Little Greene Mid Azure Green (but got it colour matched in Johnstone's trade paint as much cheaper). The colour is absolutely beautiful, although the decorator said it's the hardest colour he's ever had to work with. He's just about finished in there, and I can't wait to get in there properly.

We've done 3 walls that colour, then paired it with a much lighter colour (as suggested on the Little Green site, gone for Flint which I also got matched in Johnstone's). I like it, although am wondering if maybe I should have gone with a very pale grey instead, but not wondering that enough to change it. We are going to be panelling that wall and I think the whole thing will look really good.

Decorator has praised my 'bold' choice and loves the colour too - I think he spends a lot of his time painting neutral colours!

Comefromaway · 13/01/2021 14:19

Dd and ds have North West facing bedrooms. Dd's is painted in Tranquil Dawn as she wanted a light neutral green. Ds has a warm stone blue but for a bolder colour I'd go for a teal shade.

WildCherryBlossom · 13/01/2021 14:28

F&B Sap Green is a strong olive tone. It looks like it has quite a lot of yellow in it, making it warm.

If you notice on the colour wheel above, there are warm & cool sides to every Hue Family.

In balanced quality of light, in comparison to approx 3000 other colours those greens will be likely appear warm or cool as indicated by their location. It probably holds true a bit more than 50% of the time.

But warm and cool in your context, in your light, is a judgement which can be made by comparison to your other fixed finishings and colours.

You can also pull colours you recognise as ‘green’ from a number of Hue Families too.

Value = how light or dark a colour appears.
(The higher the number, the lighter it is)

Chroma = how colourful or near to neutral a colour is.
(The lower the colour the nearer to neutral.)

Have you chosen yet, OP?

Tootyfilou · 19/01/2021 22:32

We have just painted our bedroom F&B Oval room blue, which is a gorgeous green/blue colour. I could not be more delighted, its very cosy looking but also looks very chic... I wake up feeling as though I am in a boutique hotel!

BlackDogBlues · 19/01/2021 22:52

The box of tester pots has arrived. Vardo. Oval room blue and a few greens.

OP posts:
Tootyfilou · 19/01/2021 23:13

Vardo is lovely.

IdblowJonSnow · 19/01/2021 23:20

I love green and would put it everywhere if I could!

Is it quite a large room? If so I'd go for quite a strong colour.

BlackDogBlues · 20/01/2021 11:29

It's a large room but low ceilings. In winter though it is quite dark. I think we need a big mirror over the bed to bounce some light back into the room.

OP posts:
WildCherryBlossom · 21/01/2021 15:47

Vardo is beautiful OP. I would love a bedroom that colour, warm and calming. But DH will not consider dark colours on the walls.☹️

Big fan of mirrors for bouncing light around.

WellTidy · 21/01/2021 23:00

I’m going with ball green from f&b (matched by valspar v700) for the dining room, which sounds like your room, but mine looks out onto fencing, not greenery.

VenusClapTrap · 23/01/2021 00:00

I’ve used Hidey Hole by Little Greene in a north facing room, and it feels very fresh and bright.

Supersimkin2 · 28/01/2021 14:44

What is your skin and hair colouring? First things first - you spend quite a lot of time unclothed in a bedroom, and looking at mirrors. Get colours that suit you first, esp in the morning and at night. Tip: paint samples on your inside wrist and hold it up to the window.
